Em has longevity, don't worry about numbers.
I had to register and de-lurk after literally years of lurking, just to agree with this. I'm really confused by all the negative emotions over Em possibly selling in the 700,000's. Like why are people comparing Justin Timberlake's numbers? JT's album came on the heels of his being out of the game for literally 7 years. Dude had two of the biggest selling albums ever and just stopped making music. Of course the anticipation/hype/expectations for the 20/20 Experience were going to be insane. And yeah Drake sold something like over 600,000 but Drake is only what 3-4 years in the game?
People need to look at the bigger picture. SSLP came out in 1999 and more than a decade later Em can still push over 700,000 albums in one week and people are going to whine about that? Especially when album sales aren't what they used to be when MMLP was selling a million albums in one week. Lady Gaga has barely been around for five years and already, her sales are starting to decline because no way she's going to sell close to what she did for her last album. Katy Perry keeps having hit single after hit single and can barely push 350,000 copies of her album in her debut week. And this after people like Katy and Gaga promote the hell out of their albums and show up just about everywhere.
Anybody can have a hit song, a hit album but when an artist can say they're still at the top of their game more than a decade into their career, that is real success.
