The Monster will have to be a huge hit for it to have Recovery-longevity.

They just updated again after day 1 - Not a good sign. The numbers didn't budge. Justin's moved A LOT after day 1.

YOUR NEW RELEASES: Guess he's earned the right to call himself a rap god, huh? Hip-hop megastar Eminem will score this year's second largest debut this week. Here are this week's key new releases:

Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 700-750k
Celine Dion (Columbia) 70-80k
Avril Lavigne (Epic) 40-45k
Pentatonix (Madison Gate) 27-30k
The Wanted (Mercury/IDJ) 18-20k
Il Divo (SYCO/Columbia) 14-16k
James Blunt (Atlantic) 14-16k
Jake Miller (eOne) 14-16k
M.I.A. (Interscope) 12-14k

I love how everyone said it was going to do a million based off the name alone.

Probably because he hasn't released an album in 7 years and has an extremely loyal fan base like Em does.

I think people are underestimating the Love Game buzz too. There's a lot of K-Dot fans who might buy the album. Who knows... maybe just wishful thinking.

Never underestimate the power of mainstream singles. Recovery had Not Afraid, but MMLP2 doesn't really have that magic with its pre-release singles.

The hip-hop scene as developed a much larger fan base of people who will buy albums for quality sake. Recov did its numbers because of its singles but look at GKMC and Born Sinner. Born Sinner debuted same week as Kanye and outsold Yeezus... the biggest single on there was crooked smile which didnt even reach top 5 on billboard. So I am thinking that the overall quality of this album will keep it a strong seller.

you guys are really optimistic
No, it's hopeless, I'm the denial that you're hopelessly in. When they say all of this is approaching its end. But you refuse to believe that it's over, here we go all over again.

It'll sell 2.5 million before the year is over tbh. The video for Rap God hasn't dropped... I'm sure there will be a video for The Monster as well.... 4 singles were released before the album dropped, I'm sure they are planning on putting out at least another 2 singles. Headlights and Bad Guy are deserving of music videos.

how many albums has he sold in his career?
