Your Marshall Mathers LP 2 Edited Tracklist?

Postby Kenneth Kaniff » Nov 8th, '13, 05:26

A lot of us can agree that there are always certain tracks on albums that are weaker than the rest. And with an addition of bonus tracks from the deluxe version of an album, there is bound to be some solid tracks. Some even outshine tracks that are included on the album.
So, I'm asking what your own playlist/edited tracklist for MMLP2 would be to improve it overall?
If you don't have one and think the album is perfect and the bonus tracks blow, then cool. I guess this thread isn't for you. :y:

Here's mine:

01. Bad Guy
02. Parking Lot
03. Rhyme or Reason
04. So Much Better
05. Survival
06. Legacy
07. Groundhog Day
08. Berzerk
09. Rap God
10. Brainless
11. Beautiful Pain
12. So Far...
13. Love Game
14. Baby
15. Headlights
16. Evil Twin

Bonus:
17. Asshole
18. The Monster
19. Desperation
20. Stronger Than I Was
21. Wicked Ways

Say what you want about artistic vision, but Em really needs someone to filter through his stuff so we can have the best batch songs that are also cohesive.

I still do, but when you can put everything dope or that you enjoy on one disc, it helps.

Fuck an edited tracklist.

I listen to the shit how it's presented to me.

I presume there's good reason for the tracks which are there or at least that Em meant it to be that way and wanted a certain overall feel and progression...

Don't wanna make my own album.

I don't know how you guys aren't using Legacy as the lead in for Rap God but whatever I guess. Here's what I've been using since I bought the album. Love it.

1.) Bad Guy
2.) Rhyme Or Reason
3.) So Much Better
4.) Survival
5.) Legacy
6.) Rap God
7.) Brainless
8.) Desperation
9.) Berzerk
10.) Asshole
11.) Baby
12.) Love Game
13.) Groundhog Day
14.) So Far
15.) Beautiful Pain
16.) Wicked Ways
17.) Evil Twin

Eh, I used to have that belief until this album. I really disagreed with a few of his track arrangements, and choices of album cuts vs bonus cuts. Pretty much every bonus cut shits on STIW and The Monster. Beautiful Pain could have replaced either of those IMO.

I also disagreed with -- of all songs, he chose the semi-funny rock/rap single Berzerk to lead into Rap God, as well as Headlights leading into Evil Twin. There is no cohesiveness to Headlights --> Evil Twin. My first play through the album like that it was a complete "what the fuck?" moment. I assume it was done that way as like a "oh you thought I was soft because I made a song about my mom? Album ain't over yet, bitch. Still shady inside." But in reality, just felt like two completely different songs that had no business being that close to each other.

I think as a fan, you're entitled to do with the tracks as you please. I don't think he'd flip out if he saw me playing the album on shuffle so I don't see how that's different from making a playlist of my favorite songs. I paid my money for the real album like all the other true fans. I can do with it what I want.

This is my first time ever doing this for an album and I have to say, I enjoy it.

I agree. It's not like we're just downloading them and doing what we please, we all bought the real album.

I've done it with his albums since Encore.

I still keep the majority, but when there's some dope bonus cuts, why not make the list how you like it, and take off the weak shit?

I'm living in the stone age....I still go to bestbuy and bought blank CD's to burn when I make my own version of his album that I will be playing.
