SSLP - nostalgia = a decent shock value album.... the fact that it was Em's official start, i think, puts it up on a pedestal.

When I say decent, I mean decent for Eminem. SSLP is still miles ahead of anything else released during that time except maybe Nas (imho)

The only thing keeping this album down a bit is the choppy flow gets a little crappy at times, a few lines here and there are weak, and there's 2 weak tracks and 1 iffy track. But still, it's a very good album.

It's just his 3 classics had no bad flows, no real weak lines, and no weak tracks.

Nas was releasing his mediocre shit during the time of SSLP.

THIS is denial. You simply cannot stand that people love this album. You, sir, are the one in denial.

I wouldn't say it's put on a pedestal because it's Em's start.

There's a couple of brilliant concepts, a consistent musical and rap style, and a consistent character throughout with the exception of a few introspective tracks (as always).

But Em's lyricism and style of writing is genius; his sense of wit and irony and the way he sums up society and provokes, and parodies his life, is all genius. And not regular or 'just good', Even for Eminem. If he released it now, it would still be total brilliance.

Em comes ridiculously strong on MMLP2..anyone saying this album isn't up to scratch is too focused on his "supposed" glory days. Why can't these be Em's glory days as well? He's made a mad comeback. It's not about the impact of the album or song (i.e. Stan), it's about the quality of them (not to say that Stan is a bad song, but Bad Guy is just as good). The quality of MMLP2 is up to par with MMLP or TES. Seriously.
