I think we all agree that since Encore to current that Em's main issue with his music and probably the only reason people criticize him (even if they mention it or understamd) is cause of Em always trying to balance his albums in what he thinks people want to hear and thinks its formula that works when it clearly to me at least its ruining the album experience and not making it sound cohesive at all.
Encore he did half serious and then half silly shit which basically was one of big reasons why people look at Encore as it is. Relapse was near a perfect cohesive album till we got to beautiful and crack a bottle, again him thinking there needs to be a balance. Then you have Recovery a album that has all sorts of different type of songs in which he thinks will please all aspects of his fans but Recovery was his least cohesive album and just gave a overall meh feeling.
MMLP2 again has Em seeing trying to balance a album despite in fact he does it correctly and all the songs work together even misfits like survival and Monster. It still could have been on to a whole new level if he kept a similar sound through out the whole album. It seems to be he is scared to keep one sound on a album and stick with his direction from beginning to end. Even in interviews and the yela skit about you need a love song that he indicates that his formula is you need love songs, rappidy rap songs, hardcore songs and rap pop songs etc. I think he will continue with this formula and has no realization it's one of his biggest downfalls and why his albums don't feel as big and special as MMLP and Emshow was. Those two albums have one direction from start to finish and why people look at them as all out classics. What i'm trying to say that Eminem seems lost or scared to keep a cohesive album that feels like a story from start to finish so just trys to balance albums with different type of songs as that's what he thinks we want.
