All this homophobia talk over Rap God

Postby EndoveProduct » Nov 11th, '13, 02:10

After listening to Relapse again, particularly Underground, it made me realize just how many people simply jumped on the bandwagon to "hate" on Em and his "homophobic lyrics". I mean in the first verse in Underground alone, he uses the word fag and faggot over 10 times. The album is filled with violence, drug talk and yes, the use of the word fag, even having a song where his father rapes him. And yet THIS offended people?

Bottom line, people who are giving rap god such a hard time, haven't listened to Relapse. Where was this hate during the relapse era?

I think it's because this album has been better received by people. Rap God was a big bomb that dropped, and everyone heard it, even the gays who hate Eminem.

Not the case with the other stuff really.

Not many people really cared about Eminem during the Relapse era. It was the darkest days of his career.

That's not the point though. He's getting hate for something he's been doing YEARS.

The homophobia talk is actually nothing now comparing to what it was in the TSSLP & TMMLP days so it's not like they just started to do that. There was homophobia & violence talk in the Relapse days too.

Not as many people heard Relapse because it wasn't as well received, it didn't make you stop like Whoa...there's a new Eminem track. And by you, I mean the casual listener.

When Rap God dropped it was trending on fucking everything, was well received as a lyrically incredible track, so it got peoples attention, than the gays heard it and heard gay lookin boy, break a table over a fags back, etc.
