Are we nuts? No! We're insane!

Why is it so terrible to like MMLP2 over SSLP?

You can like MMLP2 more than SSLP but you shouldn't say it's better, because it undoubtably isn't.

Challenge accepted.

I think he rhymes a lot better and the music is better as well. I listen to many more MMLP2 songs than SSLP.

Is it bad to say that I only consider SSLP a really really fantastic album and not a classic? :zipped:

This. SSLP has no Survival or The Monster equivalent. It is Eminem at his purest before fame was introduced. The lyrics and subject matter are the perfect look into his thoughts at the time. I LOVE MMLP and TES, but they were mostly only born from the fame and controversy after SSLP. That's why for ME, SSLP cannot be beat, because it is a complete standalone album. Again, FOR ME

Well I don't agree. But please respect other's opinions. Because you CAN make an argument for why MMLP2 is a little better. It isn't terrible to prefer a great album over another great album lmao.

""""""In retrospect, his overzealous use of homophobic slurs seems knowing and jokey, a smirky kid reveling in his ability to piss you off—like when you tell someone to turn down their music and they respond by turning it up and yelling, "WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!""""""

NO SHIT? Jesus, 'in retrospect'? It was obvious to me as a fucking 10 year old.

They called it a masterpiece

Although I'm glad I saw somebody else saying what I've been saying about Encore for a while @ it being a bipolar outing. Shit is half Dr. Serious half let's all eat jello.

But here's the problem there. We're comparing an album that's been out 8 days and definitely not universally loved, to an album that's been out nearly 15 years and stood the test of time, not to mention it impacted music as a whole. We can't go by plays, because even I've been listening to MMLP2 more right now than SSLP.

RS is about as credible as barack obama trying to be hip and talk about rap. I'm talking about the fans, there's a lot of dissent ALREADY, especially when I talk to real people. That doesn't bode well for 6 months from now when excitement wears off and reality sets in, just like Recovery. time will tell. But SSLP has been in peoples' ears for 15 years, it's set in stone

The "real" people are MY people whose opinions I trust. I'm not a big forum guy because for all I know you're 13 and been an Em fan for 3 months (or me for that matter) and forums tend to come to a consensus on things like this where there are only a few detractors. That being said, you simply can't compare the two albums at this point, because you said in your own post we haven't discovered the album fully so even Complex including it is bullshit. When it comes down to it, and I'm not sure anyone would argue this, but SSLP and MMLP had CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE. Parents were scared of this man, his music got to people. And THAT's why my mind is closed to MMLP2 being a better album. That's why the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc withstood time, because they impacted a generation. I don't think "Asshole" or Love Game" are doing much in that dept. Sure, let's debate and compare them, I like debating. But those two albums will probably never be reached again in rap. TES was a GREAT album, but the storm had died down, he wasn't controversial anymore. Mind you, controversy doesn't equal greatness, but Eminem got in peoples' heads and gave them tracks to make them think. Not one of the songs on those two albums were fast just for the fuck of it, every second was a great story, or a social commentary, or something SIGNIFICANT. MMLP2 doesn't have that, or at least I haven't seen it yet.

And 'm listening to the album a lot. http://www.last.fm/user/travisw711
