So what? They're just counting sales of this song towards the album just because those people decided to buy it through complete my album?

So technically, this song should've been at 290k (as estimated) but they weren't counted because people took advantage of that option, right?

Do people do this all the time?

I just recently read how billboard counts for the complete my album option. When a person buys the song it gets counted in sales. But later on when the buyer decides to use complete my album, the song, or songs, purchased are removed from sales and an album sale is added.

Because of this, it's possible for people to boost the performance of a single before the album release, and then also rack up a sale for the album when it releases, only having to pay the price of the album itself.

I dont understand Royal not once was ahead of the monster this week on the itunes chart, how did it sell more digital copies?

About 150k of those sales were converted to album sales because people used "Complete My Album"
