You're joking right? There's a reason why it was his peak then

Who the hell told you rhyming wasnt a part of lyricism, it most definitly is a part of it. If it werent, multisyllabic rhyming as well as internal rhyming would be totally irrelivent to the conversation and thats just not true. thats not the only parts that are important but they are a factor.

A lot of people haha. In fact, many people came at me saying it was the stupidest thing ever. Shout out to Elision tho I remember he was like the one dude who backed me up haha

that boggles my mind haha. Im sorry but rhyming is an important aspect to lyricism. otherwise what would be the point, of multisyllabic rhyming, and internal rhyming. its much easier to write simplistic rhymes, and have simple rhyme schemes while still conveying the same message. I think its a completely stupid fucking thing to say that rhyming isnt important to lyricism. It also sounds better, when theres more internal rhyming and things of that nature.

You think Eminem on MMLP 2 is touching Eminem in his prime. You don't know shit about lyrics, either.

Yeah, there's some clever word/phrase association on the album, and he's still rapping 5+ syllable rhymes, but is MMLP shrouded in a choppy flow, awkward lines, and grade-school story-telling & concepts?

Get the fuck out, man. I've just about had it with your stannery.

OT: The one I noticed at first was one off of Groundhog Day, where he said "I lost my super powers cuz of supervision" or some shit like that. It was a play on him not having any supervision - his mother not being around - but then also having superpowers. Was kinda neat.

That doesn't make sense though. I like those two albums so that renders all the extensive arguments on lyricism I've had on this forum mute while you continue to post empty unsubstantiated "opinions", especially when your garbage and/or undeveloped taste in music is so well documented? And plus, liking those albums has nothing to do with what I know about lyricism. I have no delusions about MCHG's laziness, especially compared to his better work, but the album as a whole has quite a bit to offer and has some great songs. Yeezus is a completely different discussion altogether; it isn't trying to be Illmatic, its focus is on different things and has underlying themes that control it sonically and lyrically.

Lyrics are what compile the rhyme itself.. so it absolutely is lyricism. :facepalm

But, I try to separate lyricism into groups.. but if you say "Stay Wide Awake" is insane lyrically.. people would be retarded to argue against it. You can maybe target specific areas of lyricism.. but lyrically it's one of his illest songs IMO, even though all he talks about is murdering bitches.. but the content is objective and the rhyme mechanics are tangible.

@Accor I agree with this too.. that's where using broad "lyricism" is iffy.. I personally prefer intricate rhyme schemes, wordplay and shit that makes you have to replay it just to see how the song came together. Where as some artists like Common are still dope lyricists to me but for different reasons.

Em is lyrically as sharp as he's ever been, in some areas he's even better than he was.
