Em is a cool guy but has sanded down his personality so much to be neutral and mature (which, ultimately is a good thing. I'm just speaking from a detached, entertainment-driven perspective) that he's not that exciting or interesting to listen to now.
And it's kind of weird when you hear him speak now and just remember he's the guy who wrote even half the stuff on MMLP2; given how interesting, dense and neurotic his ideas are on-track...

I think he's trying to walk a weird line. He can't act too goofy these days because he's 41, but I doubt he still wants to be that Recovery dude either. To be taken seriously, without having to be too serious. Plus, even though we all want him to talk further about it, if he keeps talking about his mom, and what it was like growing up, and some of those other things he rapped about then it will start to sound tired. He just wants to be seen as a good rapper without any gimmicks. He probably doesn't want to seem like he's still trying to pull sympathy out of people.
