Xbox One is pretty solid too guys.
Pros:
-The voice commands work alot better than i had initially predicted. It's kind of nice being able to turn it on/off with a simple voice command, or navigate the menus. Some people may find this pointless when they have a controller, but it really is innovative and new.
-The TV option is cool. although the actual TV functions dont work in Canada yet, you can plug anything into the HDMI-In port on the xbox and access it just by saying "Xbox watch TV". Right now I have my laptop hooked up to it. its pretty sweet. then if i wnat to flip back to xbox, i can just say "Xbox go home" and i back to my dashboard. I can even hook my ps4 up through this port, although im not going to. Also i cant notice any mouse lag if anyone was curious about that.
-Apps and media. So far there is a decent selection of apps with the xbox. youtube, machinima and other cool stuff. a litter better of a selection than the ps4 tbh. You can also pair your smartphone with the youtube app on xbox so that a video playing on your phone, streams to your xbox. I found that pretty sweet.. although my friend tells me this was already a feature on the 36O? either way its cool.
-You can control your TV with your xbox. To add to the voice command bit, you can actually control things like your TV volume up/down with the voice commands. This is nice especially for me, because I have my xbox hooked up in my room, so at night, if the volume is loud enough that it might wake my roommates, i dont have to turn on the light or fumble to find a remote.. Also, the initial "XBox on" voice command should power up your tv as well if you set it up. Again, not going to be important to everyone but a cool feature.
-Facial recognition. This is a cool feature. If i turn on my xbox, the kinect sees my face, recognizes me, signs me in automatically, and displays my home screen/dashboard the way I've customized it. If my girlfriend is over when im not home, it will recognize her instead, bringing up her customized dashboard (makes it easier for her to find netflix haha. shes not too good with technology.)
-Rumble in the Triggers.. or whatever its called.. its a cool feature.. kinda nice for games like Dead rising 3. as it rumbles to warn you when you are nearly out of ammo, or a weapon is about to break. also nice for racing games. in the end its nothing earth shattering though.
-Snap feature: This is a cool feature. I havn't used it much, but it comes in pretty handy with browsing and especially the machinima app.
i wont spend time explaining but if you're curious check this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc_vUf1C8b8
Cons:
Hand gestures. You can use hand gestures to navigate the menus, but its not very responsive, and when you can use simple voice commands, they just become that much more pointless. I tried them once, and it was a terrible experience haha. voice commands are the way to go.
Kinect Games: I tried out kinect sports rivals trial for free yesterday, and it was an awful experience. I still can't seem to enjoy using kinect for games. although its much improved over the older version, it still feels like a gimmick. maybe could be enjoyable for kids.... but hardcore gamers will still hate this.
The new controller: I love everything about the new controller... even the new D-pad.. my only complaint about it is the position of the bumpers... the LB and RB just feel like they are in an awkward spot compared to the 360. They are a bit harder to press down as well. This is all a matter of opinion though... some people may find the bumpers to be an improvement.
Final Thoughts
I won't say which console i like more lol. only that they both have their pros and cons.
having played both systems quite a bit, and having time to get familiar with both quite well, there really isn't a clear winner here. If you are stuck between which console to buy, first ask yourself what you want.
If you're the type of person who wants to use your console for more than just games, but for media and apps like youtube, and also have the convenience of that extra HDMI/TV option, the xbox is for you, hands down... On the other side though, if all you care about are games, then save $100 and go with the PS4. If you're stuck on graphics, the ps4 is better, although most people aren't going to notice a difference tbh.. unless you're doing a side by side comparison.. and even then, the difference isnt going to be enough to take away from the gameplay experience. so unless you're completely anal, that shouldn't really matter.
Basically, whatever your go-to console was last gen, you're most likely not going to be let down if you go the same route. Both are solid.
on a separate note... the new cod ghosts game is poop.. if you were considering it, rent it fist.
