Heres a clear example

FLY - the bug
FLY - as in thinking your cool
Fly-ing fuck - really not giving a fuck

Another example but done kinda cheaply but still sweet IMO

" breathed new LIFE in me
I owe my LIFE to you
but for the LIFE of me, I don't see why you don't see like I do " ---- I need a doctor

Breathing life in me and owe my life to you, life is still defined as someones "life" but he is still using two different phrases than goes on to say for the LIFE of me... its like"life" means the same thing in all 3 if u take it for just the word but when stepping back and examining the full sentence its 3 different meanings

Breathed Life in me - Someone inspires you and picks you up
I owe my life to you - Feeling greatly in debt to someone
For the life of me - Just cant understand why

ALSO,

" I've been CURSED with this CURSE to just CURSE "

These next 2 aren't exactly what I mean but are still mentionable...

maybe not 3 times, but there's plenty of instances where he finds different phrases that sound exactly the same when pronounced

LIke in Asshole "Knock him out/not come out"

or from Love Game at the end "intimate date/intimidate"

When I was younger I used to always joke about the lyric on 'Like Toy Soldiers', "and this is business but this shit just ain't none of my business". Probably not as bad as I used to think but somewhat of an example of what you're talking about.

Holy shit. I never noticed this clever usage of the word out numerous times. I always thought that part sounded good and now I'm pretty sure that that's the reason. I honestly like how Em delivers his puns/wordplay in a subtle way on MMLP 2 and often the listener can miss them the first few times as opposed to Recovery where Em was practically yelling his puns/wordplay to you and it felt so awkward and corny.
