the singing in the beginning was stupid. just how weird the beat was and all the effects he put on his voice just didn't make it sound very good. It seemed like he was just trying to be weird for the hell of it. idk maybe it's something that grows on you

Alright I think it sounds amazing but if you get the chance I still suggest you listen to the album because all the songs are really different from one another and maybe you'd possibly like that particular song more if you got into the groove of the whole thing or read the screenplay along with it (altho that's more like a treat for people who already like the album, it basically turns the album into Catcher in the Rye lel)

I read on Reddit a theory that Gambino has been living out his concept/screenplay character for the past year. That's why he's been acting the way he has in interviews, etc. He's taken a concept album to a whole new level.

Yeah I've seen that theory, it definitely makes sense. A nice example of it is when he was talking about wanting to kill himself after his Australia tour, and he said if he really wanted to kill himself, he would have because it's not hard to do. Then in the script, the part where he wakes up in the hospital, and the nurse is like "Well you didn't. Because it's not hard to do.". And all his portable vape shit, his half-dead talk in interviews, etc.

Yeah I was thinking maybe The Boy is just how he sees himself but that would be really stupid and egotistical and rude of him to sort of put all of his close friends on the spot for some sort of musical entertainment in the sense that the story basically says he has no one and people use him for his material possessions

Especially when he's just getting wealthier, is a hilarious comedian, has had a great family upbringing and so forth
