New TRShady Forum Layout Ideas

It was shit I agree, but I just loved it because it was something new and it had less white on it than this one

Of all the layouts on that site.. I have nooooo idea why TR picked the one he did. It was so ugly it freaked everyone out. Now people are afraid of change!

Everyone would be happy. Light version, Dark version and the unchanged version (the current one). And there should be a dropdown menu on the main board for us to change at any given moment. Maybe the new versions will have more updated features, then people will just get used to the newer layouts.

But jfc, we need some change around here, people. You'll get used to a new look. A forum is a forum. I click a category/subcat and click on their topics once you're in there. It's not hard, the layout is the exact same, it just has different colours lol

I agree with this. They are both clean looking layouts and if there's an option between black & white that would give everyone choice too.

But it's hard to make people agree on this because people are afraid to give their input after the fiasco this weekend LOL

That's why if I were TR, I'd just do it. A dark version and a light version. Maybe keep this one, too. Solve all problems

So i though i would get back to you because HeySamantha, who you put in charge of layouts, asked me to email you these.
Since people have varying opinions on what the theme should be, the consensus most of us have reached is that we should have multiple themes to choose from. We know its possible because it is in the Board Preferences in the UCP. We were thinking that there would be the original theme, and then these two as options:

Just a heads up. If ya'll are expecting TR to incorporate multiple skins, I doubt it. I'm sure there's plenty of modifications that TR's done to this forum, and adding different skins ain't as simple as ya'll might think. He'd need to edit the code for each one of the template to add the MOD, which might not even work with some of them. I think the best approach is to add another version and keep this one (with a change in banner.)

Alright, so tash is pretty much right. TR responded and said that multiple themes is much harder to incorporate, and that it wouldn't work. He did say that there is one theme that he likes and is pretty nice, so ill link it. I think it has been mntioned.

Thanks for writing in. I can say immediately that having two themes won't be happening. It sure is possible with PHPBB, but I don't want the maintenance of having to keep multiple themes up to date. There's also other implications, like the emoticon set not being tied to a theme, and so they would look horrible on the dark theme for example. Whichever theme we go with, I'll be modifying each to optimise it for speed - TRshady gets a lot of traffic, there's work needed to keep costs manageable.
