The only place Eminem does something like that here is "bad" and "hands" but he's changing the rhyme there.
You pronounce "hand," "hend?" Is that what' you're saying? And you pronounce "rag," "rayg?"

Again, I refer you to every fucking dictionary there is. Short A for both. This isn't debatable, you are wrong.

EminemStanatic wrote:Haha nope, not at all.. You got both vowel sounds wrong. Here is an example from a "fucking dictionary there is"

They both have an a that is short but the pronounciation is different. This is from dictionary.com so it's 100% legit. And you misinterpreted what I said about pronouncing "hand.." It's a diphthong, so there's a very short e before the a.. Technically it would be "he-and" not "hend.."
But the e is shorter so it itself is not noticeable but it noticeably changes the sound of the a, along with the n.
[/quote]Another example of this is "lamp" and "ass." There a sound in ass is the same as in rag, but it isn't the same sound in "lamp" because the m changes the timbre. Eminem uses this in Oh No and it sounds like shit because it is painfully clear they don't rhyme.

Haha if you listened to the audio files and still think they rhyme you're retarded..
No I'm not Canadian I have a standard American accent from New York. Where are you from?
Upon further review, I have noticed that you've been having this argument since February 2012. Congratulations. Is there anyway possible you could send me audio files of you pronouncing these words and show me how in hell they could possibly rhyme?
And what exactly is your definition of rhyme?

They rhyme by lyricism standards.
By definition, very few things Eminem or anyone else raps actually rhyme. True rhymes are cat, bat, and mat. Or hand, sand, and and.
In lyricism, assonance in aligned syllables constitutes rhyming. A "neck with bolts" and "check the pulse."
"Dime you have" and "time you mad" from Sing For the Moment. If you just isolate "have" and "mad" and places tons of emphasis on the consonants at the end, of course it's not going to sound right. Especially if you say them really slowly and then add another vowel sound that just isn't there. "Haaa-uhhvvv...see, doesn't work!" The consonants are what prevent every rapper from consistently having true rhymes.

EminemStanatic wrote:Yes this is true. Glad we have some common ground. And yea, most rappers don't rhyme consonants, they use slant rhymes (and use similar consonant sounds such as "n" and "m)" if they can to make it sound better. This is done to free up rappers from rhyme scheme limitations, and rappers can make it seem like they're simply talking but are still rhyming, which is what's cool about it. However, by pure definition, the words "mad" and "have" slant rhyme, because of the long(ish) a. It's just that they have VERY different consonants.
Like I said before, the "n" in the "hand" changes the sound of the a, and if one were to extremely accent it, there's a small "e" sound before, but isn't actually noticeable in the word itself. I was just trying to spell out the different vowel sounds. The fact that you took it out of context and tried to use it to insult move is a dick move, and probably the main reason I'm still arguing with you. If you look at Eminem lyrics and are amazed at how many rhymes you find once you've fully accepted the ideology of hand and rag rhyme, you'll find loads of "rhymes." Want to hear the best part? You don't even have to tell us. You can keep it all to yourself and "understand" and appreciate Eminem more.
Btw, your definition of rhyme is too vague. I'm a lyricist, but that doesn't mean I can declare what rhymes. Hey, did you know there's a thing called consonant rhyming, where it's JUST the consonants? I bet we're gonna find so many more rhymes with that. But still, even with that hand and rag can't rhyme.
Wait. I just found common ground. If your definition of rhyming is "...by lyricism standards," then you're allowed to believe hand and rag "rhyme." If you believe they rhyme because they rhyme, it forms a clear paradox of wondering which one came first, but still, I think we're getting somewhere.
EminemInsider wrote:Hey, did you know that if you take away the rhymes that "don't count" by your standards, Eminem becomes a very ordinary emcee and his songs, even from his peak, are filled with monosyllabic rhyme schemes as a result? Just take a look at the lines I identified from some of his classics.
You trying to "break down the sounds" is exactly where you're going wrong. You're inventing something that isn't there. Nobody says, "haaaa-end." They just say, "haaand." It's a short A sound, period. That's what the dictionaries say, that's what was being pronounced in your audios. Just the same as nobody says, "gaaaa-eeeeg." They just say, "gaaaag."
You could invent a secondary inaudible vowel sound for any vowel sound there is.
Slaughter = Slawwww-ihhhh-ter.
Moron = MOHHHH-ERRRRR-AHHHHH-ENNNN.
Cat=CAAAA-UHHHHT
And there's no such thing as pure consonant rhyming. Rhyming always involves vowels.

Come to think of it, the ONLY way you could use the same "a" vowel sound in rag in hand is by putting the e in between the a and the n. However, that's not the sound my audio files indicate. It results in a sort of mock British accent. And yeah, Eminem forces shit all the time. He's the guy that rapped in a Jamaican accent for almost two years. He also has a unique accent, considering he pronounces "leg" "LAYYYYG."
Please send me audio files of you pronouncing by the two words.
You can't say "nd" without breaking between the two letters (nnnn..d). So the n goes on the a. And you proved my point for me. Smooth the e out when you do "haend" and you'll get the word eventually. I was just trying to show the vowel sounds are different.
EminemInsider wrote:
I pronounce them just like your audio examples and just like everyone else in the United States - with a short-A sound in both. Just like every dictionary says:You can't say "nd" without breaking between the two letters (nnnn..d). So the n goes on the a. And you proved my point for me. Smooth the e out when you do "haend" and you'll get the word eventually. I was just trying to show the vowel sounds are different.
Your mouth changing to pronounce the N does not create another vowel sound. It's not aaaa-ennnn, it's just, aaaan. The "n" is not separate. You don't say, "en" when it follows an "a."
The vowel sounds are not different. I don't know what else I can say to get through to you.
