Relapse - Revival

Postby EndoveProduct » Jan 9th, '14, 06:13

I was never the BIGGEST fan of it but I've been bumping Relapse recently (all songs from that era) and I'm absolutely loving it.

After Recovery and Mmlp2, it's such a treat to hear this era all over again. What an era it was. And it's even more of a treat since we probably won't ever hear him like that ever again. I love that I'm finally a huge fan of it and I can NOW say with confidence, that I was wrong about Recovery being better than Relapse. It's not.

Anyone else been playing his older shit recently?

PS. I still skip crack a bottle and 3am though

Relapse isn't a bad album, but it's overrated on TR. There are an INCREDIBLE amount of flaws.

It does have his flaws. But the album is listenable from
Start to finish...which is more than I can say for Encore.

It's still a gem in its own way though

Its not a good album. Its got a amazing rapping style BUT it doesn't work for a whole album.
Just realized this when I heard this remix
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aglmV7kIqtg

Relapse is way to dark throughout.
Listen to this remix and see if you see what I mean. Relapse could have been executed much better. But I think he planned to "finish" it with relapse 2.

If Relapse sounded more like the chorus to Hell Breaks Loose, it may have been a GOAT album :coffee:

Relapse woud've been a classic, if it didn't had some shitty songs. I've been listening to Em's discography in order in the last few days and today I finished Relapse and Refill, as well. Replace shitty songs on Relapse for those on Refill, and it'd be an amazing album.

Relapse reminded me of MMLP more than MMLP2 - tbh.

Yeah I've been shuffling through some of Em's previous albums recently and they all sound pretty dope. Even Relapse was pretty good for jamming out to. Very unique album overall and incredible lyricism. The sound of the songs overall is pretty great too.

Relapse had far too many club beats and punchlines. I wanted Dre beats and straight rapping, instead I got this bubblegum rap bullshit. So glad he dropped Recovery, that was raw.

Relapse was great for lyricism and flow but like Recovery it was missing the Eminem that got me hooked right in, from his previous albums. Thank God that guy made an appearance on MMLP2 though :worship:
