Is TES still the most mature album?

Postby Brainless BadGuy » Jan 12th, '14, 12:57

every album has it's silly immature side but as a whole is TES still the raining king of darker themes and brutal honesty? It's a hard one to answer
Q. What did Eminem say to 50 when he caught him wearing a sweater?
A. GEE YOU KNITT??

I ain't no fucking G, I'm a cannibal
I ain't tryin to shoot you, I'm tryin to chop you into pieces and eat you
Wrap you in rope and plastic, stab you with broken glass
And have you with open gashes strapped to a soakin mattress
Coke and acid, black magic, cloaks and daggers
Fuck the planet, 'til it spins on a broken axis

I think Recovery is the most mature but it was executed poorly. The Eminem Show was fairly mature and executed way better. Same with MMLP 2.

Curious though, what do you mean by mature?

Quite hard to explain. I'd say like the least reliant on shock lyrics or toilet humour but instead Em showing his rawest emotions without having the cartoon-ish slim shady persona popping in and out just to piss off certain people
Also him dealing with mature themes and not murder/rape/drugs etc.

Yea I would say Recovery is probably the most mature album, but it is not executed as well. Em Show is mature but has near perfect delivery, making it work so much better and be more cohesive

Recovery isn't the most mature because of the abundance of stupid punchlines if anything

Define "Mature" in context of Eminem's Music?

People say he barely uses his Slim Shady persona on Recovery and tones down all the crude offensive lyrics to make it more commercial but you only need to stick it on for 5 minutes to realise that's not the case AT ALL.

MMLP2 is the most mature album he's done. He apologized to his mother for one, he also ended his shady persona and took full responsibility for everything he's ever spat. He also has content about finally coming to terms with his fame and his head troubles..

You forgot Kanye.

Lots of Kanye for the mature listeners.

I think MMLP2 sounds more like a sequel to TES sometimes than it does MMLP1

I'd also like to add that the fourth verse of Bad Guy is the most self aware maturity he's ever displayed

It's not a sequel to MMLP doe.

 *I think MMLP2 sounds more like a revisit to the TES era rather that TMMLP*

Not even that lol. He matures with each album, though.
