"Mature" does not mean, "more serious."
"Mature" does not mean, "nicer."
"Mature" does not mean, "gentler."
"Mature" does not mean, "more optimistic."
"Mature" does not mean, "apologetic."
Canning: What will it say on your tombstone?
Charlie Sheen: Something dot com.

No but those aspects come with the maturity, it's hardly a mature album if none of the above are included
Q. What did Eminem say to 50 when he caught him wearing a sweater?

For the record, his most mature album was SSLP.

Go go gadget dick...

Going on your definition of maturity (fully developed), SSLP wouldn't be his most mature album, MMLP2 would.

I think it's dumb to expect much maturity from him anyway, he's said himself he's not mature. Naturally, that spills over to his music.

Not necessarily. Some people become less serious as they develop, and become more pessimistic, angry, and stop trying to please everyone. I think this is actually more common than the reverse - with maturity comes the loss of naivety.

By the way people falsely try to define maturity, George Carlin was immature.

There's no standard for how an adult acts. Different adults have different attitudes. Being an adult doesn't always entail being a complete stiff with a stick up his ass, or removing yourself from conflict, including when the situation calls for you to show some backbone.

Eminem was the best writer during his SSLP days. That's when he could pen a 97 Bonnie & Clyde, which has more layers than an onion. That's when he realized his optimism on songs like It's OK may not be realistic, and he wrote Rock Bottom and If I Had.

He was still a great writer on MMLP and TES, but his subtlety was at its best on SSLP.

I get where he's coming from... I don't agree. Tbh I think Eminem is a better writer now than he ever was.

@StayWideAwake

Very interesting ideas and points you brought up. You almost always have something interesting to say and you articulate it nicely especially when discussing Eminem. Great posts bro.

I don't get why in hindsight Eminem doesn't like the high-pitched nasally voice he used on SSLP. I thought it was really cool and fit him but he abandoned it after SSLP and I think spoke against it a couple times later in his career.
