Proof was still alive.
Been thinking about this for a while and I'm wondering, what's everyone's opinion on it. What do think Em would be like if Proof never died?

It was because of Proof's death that Em really went on a downer and needed drugs more and more - eventually leading to the overdose on December '07. I think if Proof was still alive he wouldn't have overdosed but instead just continued his pill popping sessions in the booth or just be in and out of rehab every few months, he probably wouldn't have got so depressed & addicted that he OD'd (which was needed for the Em we have today) so I think he would've either stayed in "retirement" or just not have got the revelation he needed to make the decision to get sober for good. Just my opinion. We will never know

If Proof had lived I don't think it would have been too different as far as the drug abuse as Em already was on a downward spiral. He was gonna hit his bottom at some time no matter what happened in his life.

So in answer to your question: he'd probably either be dead or similar to where he is now.
