I registered at this forum because I want to get this off my chest. There really is no contest for me, Relapse wins. And I'll tell you why. I've bought every single of Eminem's albums since '99, and every time his albums have left me with this "wow"-feeling when I'm done listening to them for the first time. Relapse was no exception. It was brilliant. The murderous fantasies, the pill-popping lyrics, the intricate rhymes... Everything someone like me could relate to and want. It's funny its concept (or album cover) is drugs, because the album itself is like a drug. I can't stop listening to it and it leaves me in a world of my own when I do. Not so with Recovery and MMLP2. Recovery was a good album, it had more songs that I instantly liked than MMLP2. But it left me disappointed when it ended, and that was a first for me (with Eminem). With MMLP2 I was, for the first time, instantly disappointed with quite a few of the songs. I still just listen to like 7 songs from that album, the rest of them I skip. But with Relapse I can just be in my own world for days listening to it. Plus it feels like the last thing we got from that old Dre/Em era. So, without further ado, here goes the song-by-song comparison:

Main disc:

Bad Guy < 3 A.M.
Rhyme or Reason < My Mom
So Much Better > Insane
Survival > Bagpipes from Baghdad
Legacy = Hello (this is tied)
Asshole < Same Song & Dance
Berzerk < We Made You
Rap God > Medicine Ball
Brainless < Stay Wide Awake (this is close, but I'm gonna have to give it to SWA for its sheer lyrical and atmospheric brilliance)
Stronger Than I Was < Old Time's Sake
The Monster > Must be the Ganja
So Far... < Deja Vu
Love Game < Beautiful
Headlights = Crack a Bottle (I love both)
Evil Twin = Underground

Bonus:

Baby > Forever
Desperation < Hell Breaks Loose
Groundhog Day < Buffalo Bill
Beautiful Pain < Elevator
Wicked Ways < Taking my Ball + Music Box + Drop The Bomb On 'Em

Plus My Darling and Careful What You Wish For are brillant, so... :)

MMLP2 over Relapse as a whole...production wise Relapse is better in my opinion

MMLP2 is better as a whole project, no doubt about it.

But I love Relapse too...

How could you even compare these two albums? Everything about them is different.

Relapse has better flow and writing structure. Smoother multis. Points get taken off for lack of concepts.

MMLP2 has more creativity, better vocal performance and delivery, and is generally more entertaining.

There's humor on both, but MMLP2 is funnier.

Yeah, it's totally unfair. They're not even similar.

But when it's incredibly one sided it gives a good representation

Kinda... but these two albums sound like they were recorded by two different artists (subject area), love them both. :D

MMLP2 by far.
Bad Guy is Lose Yourself tier and even the weaker songs are dope.
BTW, I've always preferred SS&D to SWA.
