Eminem is an artist - he adopts many masks for expression.

He's also not a serial killer, a rapist, or Stan.

As a person - he's made a living and become one of the best at something he absolutely LOVES with a passion. He wakes up and does what he adores to do, every single day. He started off in one of the shittiest life situations ever and worked his way to become a world renowned genius at what he does... he also strives for honesty, he seriously self-reflects and tries to grow and has a poetic view of life.

I hella respect all of that.

How can you respect someone as a person if you don't know them personally? All I know about Eminem is what he presents to the public - song lyrics, music videos, concerts, interviews - and what other people say about him.

Judging by that I respect him a lot more now than I did when he first appeared on the scene. I loved his music but thought he personally was a borderline nasty piece of business whose main saving graces as a person were his excellent sense of humour and his love for his daughter(s). The face he presents to the public now is much more palatable to me. But that could easily all be total bullshit and he might be the biggest douchebag on the planet when you really get to know him.

I respect his public persona. I don't have a clue about him.
