If we're talking purely speed, then Rap God is like "If Had..." compared to like...http://youtu.be/HrgkKVfaHNY?t=59s or most of Twista's songs. The song is still fucking bananuts but what I hate is videos up on YouTube like "White girl does Rap God fast part" like it's the fastest rap song of all time.

I believe there's something deep in marshall mathers' brain that gives him an innate ability to rhyme and make music that will leave you, for quite literally lack of a better word, speechless. nobody on the planet can do what he can do and communicate the way he can. anyone who doesn't see that is out of touch with reality

Of course rap god is going to get reactions and videos like "girl raps 'rap god' fast bit" because how often do we see fast rapping hit mainstream ears? Maybe busta in the 90s but nothing recent comes to mind. I bet for a lot of kids it's the first time they've heard it at that speed, and eminem being the one to do it generates more of a reaction. I think it's awesome regardless of others doing it before or subjectively better.

What amazes me when Em raps fast is his ability to clearly annunciate each word without getting tongue tied. Especially since he does a lot more rhyming of similar words now.

For example: picture someone who revels in straight masochism and imagine him giving an adjective an ass whooping so bad they should put his ass in prison.

He has a lot of lines like that now where the words blend together in sound but he can still get through it clearly. I always fumble those words when I try to sing along :(

And in regards to the video -- I don't think when Em was making Rap God, he said "alright for 16 seconds I'm gonna spit the fastest I can possibly spit" -- the beat very much dictates how fast you can go because you don't want to be offbeat. Just like he out spit Tech in one of the songs in the video but not in another. I don't think any of these guys are going in with the intention of spitting as fast as they can possibly go. It's how fast can they go within that particular beat.

Anyway, it doesn't matter who's the fastest. It's about entertainment. For me, in terms of speed + flow + entertainment value it goes Em --> Busta --> Pun

For me personally.

it's not difficult. name one notable mc in this category who doesn't have that ability.

No. It is difficult. And no, not every emcee listed does it.

While they all rhyme fast, a lot of the others rhyme fast but only stick to last word rhymes.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah rock
Blah blah blah blah blah black sock

A lot of Em's more recent shit has him rhyming words that all sound similar.

Compared to his older shit, what he's doing now is harder. "Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say but nothing comes out when they move their lips, just a bunch of gibberish and motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre." -- is fast, but not hard to rap, because every word has it's own distinct pronunciation.

Compare that to -- i'm devastating, never more than demonstrating how to give a motherfucking audience a feeling like it's levitating, never fading and I know the haters are forever waiting for the day that they can say I fell off they'll be celebrating cuz I know the way to get em motivated I make elevating music you make elevator music.

The bolded is particularly hard to say as fast as he does without getting tongue tied.

I'm not saying Em is the only artist who does this but it's certainly something I've heard him do a lot more often than some of the others.

Again, show me an artist in this category that fails to fully annunciate and pronounce their shit. Also I'd say there's less artists not incorporating serious multi's into their shit these days than those who do.

It's not. I could probably do it at double his speed.

:facepalm everybody aint a fuckin stan like you so..

trshady is the wrong place to argue about whether or not eminem rapped "godly" on Rap God by comparing to other rappers who are equally as skilled - this place is biased as fuck (obviously). To me, if you put eminem, busta, and tech n9ne all on one competitive track, they'd all be on equal playing fields, especially in the technical department. Tech N9ne has some of the most technically dense and complicated rhyme patterns I have ever seen, more technical than eminem at times. I also don't know why people think Eminem is this technical god too - other rappers have and do the same shit. Listen R.A. the Rugged Man's verse on Hallelujia, that verse is just as technically dense and rich as anything Em has ever spit so niggas need to calm down. To me, the only thing that really stands out from Rap God is the diversity of flows and career introspection but to say that he rapped "godly" on the track as if other rappers cannot do the same is a crude overstatement.
