Why do people want kids?

This is something I've never been to fully wrap my head around, what is it that people see attractive about having children? To me it just seems infinitely unappealing. I generally hate children, they're loud, they don't listen, they stress everyone out, and they're horrible little humans.

Do any of you ever want kids? I'm actually curious as to the reasoning why you want kids too. I'm not trying to be terrible, it's just something that I cannot fully understand.

They arent kids forever. Sure small children are awful, but eventually they grow up and they can be great to have around.


Plus, who else is gonna do the house chores you dont wanna do?

I think they're pretty horrible from 0-13, but that's just my opinion.

Another thing for me is, I'm super paranoid about relationships failing. I don't want to put kids through a divorce, because I remember my parents divorcing and it really sucked for about 4 months because there was a lot of anger coming to everyone.

That's true, relationships can fail or can last but if you have kids and your relationship doesn't last that doesn't mean that it'll have negatively impact on your kids. I know someone right now who has kids with his wife and they've been together for 10 years, they're acting like adults during the hard times around the kids, my point is that if it happens or doesn't happen its really out of your control.

Kids make me smile. I work as a teacher in a neighbourhood school. Kids are ages 6-10. They're really smart sometimes. And fucking naive. Inspiring at times. But no, I won't have kids. I want to. But if I were to have kids, i want them to stop growing at 12. That's when they start to see how fucked up the world is.

Spending time with my wife/long-term GF doing what we want seems way more appealing than raising children.

I mean, I'm 20 so it's not really something I'm concerned with at all for the moment. This is more just curiosity of how other people similarly aged (or grandpa aged, in Rays case) feel about it.

Because, kids take a lot of time out of your life. You can't always do what you want to do if you have kids and a full time job. If you're not at work, you're dealing with your kids. On the weekend, you're doing stuff with the kids. It's all about them, and you get very little time to yourself.

I get that it's very rewarding, but I think I'd have a more fulfilling adulthood without.
