Hopefully he and co. learned that you can't just take that shitty formula and dupe it for your artists; well - new ones anyway. They aren't established yet, the general public have no confidence or interest in them... you need to create that with compelling material like he did with his shit.
Why would people buy generic shit from artists they don't know when they're just buying generic shit from artists they do. With the same templates and formulas.
It's incredibly lame that Em let that happen on his watch for the SH album. I actually think Radioactive wasn't as much him... as Yela said it was Ghet-O-Vision / label execs, and he took the album to Em... but he did say Em helped him make it more ''worldwide'' so he clearly influenced some shitty hooks / generic elements.
But the SH album he fully influenced and exec. produced, so no excuses there, he flat out dogged em. I know he was tryna probably just help them be big but more-so just tryna re-establish the label. How would he like it if Dre tried to just grab a bunch of generic template songs and directions for him when he signed him instead of letting him be creatively free with his shit. There would be no impact.
Don't be a douche Em. You of all artists should know.
Also - doesn't the fact "Rap God" was a top 10 Billboard DEBUT mean anything or hint something to Em and co.? AKA that you don't need to fucking compromise to have a hit. A top 10 debut is rare and that song is as lyrical, weird and uncompromised as it gets. It's basically a full-fledged album track, yet it was a hit.
Which is what makes it wack as fuck with shit like ''The Monster'', because it wasn't even needed. The shit works without the compromise for him and always has. So it's just needless watering down of the art for the sake of greed. A hit isn't enough. They want worldwide pop mania. And yet all he apparently cares about is the art. He's compromised more in the last few years than every other year of his career prior combined.
Anyway, hopeful and interested to see/hear an uncompromised SH project. But not holding my breath. I honestly think they won't be able to resist and aren't bold enough to put risky shit as singles.
