Hmmmm. Kinda meh tbh. I expected more from Spike Lee.

The concept is interesting but the execution isn't. I understand it was probably intended to be how it is; simplistic and real-life, like a home-cut video first-person perspective... but there isn't quite enough visual anchors for it to feel as powerful as it should.

I think if they kept driving around each other, avoiding each other, and then Em's real mother was actually in the vid and you saw her face right near the end of that hug... that could have been something. That really would be life imitating art; a real reconciliation in the video of a song dedicated to reconcile.

So um they couldn’t at least get a few night shots so we could see some Headlights LOL. Seriously wtf is this? Poor Debbie sitting at home in her raggedy house obsessing over the son she never sees, driving her beat up car to his million dollar estate only to be repeatedly turned away. Persistence finally pays off and she runs into him only to get a brief hug. What was the message here? My mom is sad and lonely and I’m still not able to move on and forgive and I'll release it on Mother's Day for all the shitty moms out there? C’mon Marshall at least let the woman visit once a month…..and buy her a decent damn car.

And really Spike Lee directed this cheap looking mess? Paul must be pocketing all the video budget money.

Yeah well more than that - for this to be the product of Spike Lee is shit.

Considering the interesting shots and motions he's used in his movies, at times... you would have thought he could do a lot better than this. It's obvious that it is intended to be simple, but it still has to FEEL like something. And this doesn't. Actually it does: it feels amateur. And predictable.

Spike Lee for this shit? Em coulda probably shot this version himself. Jesus.
