I think "Stan" is technically better
bad guy is only so great because of stan doe. obviously it's technically superior but still
Hate to sound bitter but this song is lucky to make it in my top 25
kkaniff wrote:Nah, the fact that it's a sequel to Stan has nothing to do with it, other than explaining Matthew's motivations, and that was only needed in the first and second verses. It's sort of like 97 Bonnie and Clyde and Kim; even if you don't recognize the reference, it's still pretty fucking great.

Nah, Bad Guy is a masterpiece in the most literal sense of the word. Eminem was still perfecting his craft when he made Stan (as the last verse shows) but Bad Guy is the work of someone who has that shit mastered.
From the intentionally vague first verse, to the progressively increasing tension, to the eventual glorious climax.
Then, there's the voice acting, then the little brilliant lines "here's the sequel to my Mathers LP just to get people to buy", and the stark eloquence of the closing lines.
IMO, Bad Guy is the greatest song Eminem has ever made, I said it 6 months ago and I still think so now.
"Stan" is a bigger and better masterpiece.
