Dope EP.

The Reunion and W2H are top notch.

Me too, I actually went back yesterday and listened to it and it sounds pretty great. You can just tell this was the beginning of Em saying fuck it and making the music he wanted to make. MMLP2 is a result of this project, I feel. If he never did this then I'm thinking MMLP2 would have been different and probably a different album altogether. Closer to Recovery 2.

Well to answer you backwards... I'd say my favourite song would be... ''Fast Lane'' or ''Above the Law''.

Back to the quality of it: I think without ''Lighters'' - it'd be a 'perfect' project for what it is. To expand: by perfect, I don't mean it has NO FLAWS - like every line and flow and moment and musical aspect is perfect - I just mean that it has a vibe which flows, uninterrupted and feels cohesive and is overwhelmingly good.

''Lighters'' absurdly fucks with that vibe, just due to the hook alone.

Other than that though - good-as-fuck performances from Royce and Em and a really enjoyable EP.

Kill You wrote:Beats are still better on MMLP2 though. Everything about MMLP2 is better. That's not to say this was a bad project because it wasn't. It was great.

MMLP2 beats are very good yo.

It was the one thing overall I was worried about.

I wasn't worried about Em's ability or the rapping; I presumed he'd come up with a new style or styles as he always does and it was obvious from Relapse and Recovery that his technical skills were back to a very impressive standard... but after Recovery - all I worried about was production.

As, with really good Em or Bass Bro or whoever, but just, good beats: Recovery could have been like 20x better and the main thing about that album is just the OTT messy ass annoying music behind it.

So I was very surprised and thankful to hear the totally crisp and funky simplicity of ''Rhyme or Reason'' or the poigniant Stan-esque vibe of ''Legacy''. Or the manic classical-psycho vibe of ''Brainless''... all of the beats are the kind of simple and stark musical brilliance I wanted to hear Em over - musically - MMLP2 delivered big-time. It's just a shame that it doesn't all gel as ONE ALBUM to me, but rather fractured potential of different vibes.

Lighters originally had different production IIRC, I think Bruno's group (The Smeezingtons?) re-did it.
To match the hook, maybe.

i like "Lighters"
why do people always gotta say "oh [Insert album name] would be so much better without [insert mainstream single]" no it wouldn't, it would be the same thing but with one less song.

I agree on the production of this ep though, most sound generic, not in a bad mainstream way, but you could honestly say one dude made all the beats. Porter, smh. Em needs some of that alchemist magic.

It has a total different vibe and doesnt fit with the rest of the album. I like it, well Eminems verse is great! But Royce sucked on it and Bruno just isnt good at all IMO.

Great EP :) i just played the whole CD again after i saw this thread (thanks OP)!!
I agree that production on MMLP2 is on a whole other level but as long as this EP "brought" Slim back (inspired him etc.) i'm good. Favorite tracks : Reunion, W2H , I'm On Everything , Above the Law

I am starting to love I'm On Everything. They both do great! I love that back to back thing they do near the end. Above The Law has grown as well. Used to skip because I could not stand the screaming, but now I am loving his verse!
