Let’s get one thing cleared up first, I’m not an Eminem hater or after a refund. I just wanted to hear my idol.
This is for all the Eminem Stans on Twitter (yes, I called you a Stan) piping up to his defence (when I am not targeting him) telling people to stop complaining about the sound quality, when I was listening to him when you were in nappies. Mmm. kay.
I’ve been a fan of Eminem for 15 years. I’ve refused to see him at any festivals and promised myself to see him when he got his own UK gig, only to be left upset and hugely frustrated.
This is from Block 226, Row 6.
This video shows the sounds quality for the entire time. It's not the phone that makes this audio sound bad, apart from losing some bass, this is exactly what it sounded like (actually sounds better on the phone). Playing "let's try and rap along to a song by piecing together what fractions of lines you can here and an approximate guess at the verse he must be on" was a tiny bit of fun, but mainly just made me mad. People kidding themselves that they were having a good time was just embarrassing when they had to stop mid dance to say "what song is this?" Because they actually couldn't hear it! Damn you Wembley.
What’s a girl to do?
Try and hear her idol!
So I gave it over an hour before I thought, I can’t do this anymore; I just want to hear him.
The crowd was amazing, the atmosphere couldn’t be faulted and you could tell by watching Eminem, he was doing an amazing job.
The ticket says complaints about audio have to be done during the event and not after. Complaints after are not valid. A get out clause basically. So I did it at the event to the 212 Club Wembley customer services, just asking for us to simply go and find some un used seats somewhere (as there were plenty scattered about) the answer was no.
I wasn’t after an upgrade, I was after a downgrade and all I wanted to do was HEAR my idol. She told me they hired the venue and it was their sound, though I've read the other way round. I was told I need to contact my ticket provider to make a complaint, who let’s face it aren't going to do anything. Who actually can’t do anything for me after - I couldn’t have made it more clear to her, I didn't want a refund, I just wanted to move to where I could hear it. It was admitted to me by her, all staff and stewards I spoke to that the sound quality was an issue, but they were unable to let us anywhere else apart from where our tickets were.
Why though?
If you’re admitting to the fault and you have spare seats or space in standing, why not just let us move?
I tried myself by going into a couple of boxes, explained the situation and was told they couldn’t do anything. We tried one more time when we were leaving and no luck. You can't get into standing or lower stands with our tickets either.
We left ¾ of the way though because we couldn't hear one thing being said or performed, I actually shed a tear in frustration over this. Even when not performing and when Eminem was talking into the crowd, you couldn't hear what he said. This is no exaggeration. I didn’t even catch one word from his intro trailer either.
I'll get over, it but I feel cheated, massively frustrated and he literally is my idol, so it was a tease - so I'd rather have not gone and not had to feel this disappointment. Am I ever going to see him again? Not in my lifetime, I can’t afford flights to America to go and see him.
So I'm bummed out.
If you imagine your idol and someone said hey, give me £230 and you can see them perform and then they go hahaha jokes, you can just look at him for the set.
This is my pain!
Feel my pain!
He's a rap god, as much as it was awesome to look at him, I need to hear him. He's my idol because of his words. He's a lyrical genius.
Good things that came from it?
This is me trying to put a positive spin on a bad feeling
- I saw him
- I saw Dre
- I rapped at him even though I couldn't hear him
- Dead wrong and Forgot about Dre was amazing
- He literally is one of the best rappers of all time and the part of rap god I caught proved that
- He's hot #dilf
- I went to wembley and experienced the atmosphere on that scale
- I'll pay to meet him and backstage it when I win the lottery (pahaha we can all dream)
- Kuniva from D12 tweeted me this weekend
Bad luck of the draw and a lesson learned about Wembley for me. It is what it is, nothing I can do about it now. We tried. It just sucks!
The end.
