He went overboard with ridiculousness on Encore with hopes of a positive reaction.

It was for the worst, no doubt. He was probably expecting his younger audience to buy into the humor + drugs.

Can-I-Bitch is silly, but it embodies his creativity and genius writing. He didn't "try too hard"; that's why it's more amusing than the entirety of Encore imo.
