“When I’m Gone” was written in 2003 and released in 2005 by Shady Records, on the album “Curtain Call: The Hits”.

he actually wrote the song in '03 :unsure:

He was a zombie in 2005, 'When Im Gone' has some meaning to it.

Can't really trust wiki but it might well have been written in '03 but I don't think he was preparing for a musical hiatus back then.
Plus this song sounds like it's written by a man who is one step away from suicide.

exactly what i thought, but when i think about it more, Kim tried to commit suicide in 2001 and they separated the same year also, and "Daddy it's me, help mommy, her wrist are bleeding" may be about that, so it's possible he wrote it in 2003 but recorded it in 2005. he probly added lyrics and changed more to the song later on
