I actually remember being on another Eminem message board when MMLP first dropped and roughly...40% of the people on there thought MMLP was worse than SSLP. Years later, I think most people preferred MMLP. But there was a substantial segment of the fanbase that didn't.

And then when TES dropped, a lot more people thought TES was an 'average' album and nowhere near as good as MMLP. Nowadays, I think most Eminem fans look at all three albums as great (YMMV on which is the best) but at time it wasn't so clear cut. It's like how, at the time, It Was Written was considered a huge let down after Illmatic to many fans...but a lot of people consider it a Classic or Near Classic album now. In the context of expectations, albums are viewed differently than when people can honestly look at them with perspective later on. I think that's what Eminem was getting at...though of course Encore will never be considered a good album. Even if I like the silly songs on there more than most people do. Rain Man is fucking hilarious, I don't care if it's goofy and has no complicated rhyme schemes.

I guess, when it comes to the topic...I'd say that Em was wrong when he always said he'd never apologize and didn't give a fuck. That's not really who he is, he clearly does care what people think about him. The idea that he didn't was always an act. I mean, look how fucking sensitive he was when starting beefs. Most of them were because he caught feelings over some minor comment someone made.

This one may be a reach, but Em says in NITC, "No one wants to hear their grandfather rap" to the 40-year-old Benzino.

Rap God? Bad Guy? Recovery (not too good but probs one of the moments in Ems life where he was most pumped for being back in rap).

Singin' "Bagpipes from Baghdad" again
In my dad's drag draggin' a faggot in a Glad bag
Won't be the last time I make a dramatic entrance like that again
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
Forgive me father, for I have sinned
But hip hop has left me brainwashed with a violent streak

Stop bashing "My 1st Single". I dunno, its a fucking dope song, and Im not feeling ashamed for saying this. Rain Man, Big Weenie are dope too. IMO, their dopeness is not in the rhyme schemes, superb writing or some ill flows. E.g. Rain Man is a great example of fantastic Eminem's (You can call it Slim Shady or whatever) abillity to express his "I really dont give a fuck what you think" point so naturally. Id rather listen to Big Weenie than some Recovery stuff lol. No hate or disrespect to Recovery, its just how I feel.

Sing For The Moment "You're full of shit too Guerrera, that's was a fist that hit you"

Probably was being sarcastic, but hey :coffee:
