I don't think it's unreasonable that he could have made the song because the thought of retiring crossed his mind. Kinda like how sometimes he wanted to feel like a Rap God. Just one of many thoughts, expanded upon and made into a song, not necessarily a definitive statement.

I dont interpret this as him WANTING to retire. But more so of being afraid that his relevancy is going to fade soon and hell have to start over. I dont think its going too, he had the best selling rap album last year lol, but yeah. Hes not gonna retire.

Guess it's safe to assume the "Em is retiring" rumors are gonna come back in full force now.... but if this song is anything to go off by, they may actually be true. Everything about this song is great so far, and probably the last thing anybody would expect from a first single coming from Em.

Crazy too cause it hasn't even been a year since he was saying he hated it when people were asking him if he were retiring and from the sound of it, he didn't seem like he was going to stop any time soon. But things change, and so must he.

He probably has those days. It must be tough when your fans are never happy with whatever you drop and they keep comparing your new shit to your glory days and it seems like nothing can match the mark of your old shit. That would get to anybody. That said, I don't think he really is gonna retire now. He's 41, he's still got plenty of time. Not to mention Hip-Hop is aging now to where it's cool for old legends to still be dropping material. He loves music too much, and if this were really a retirement album, they would've said it was straight out the gate. Eminem retiring would be a huge deal.
