to have something ingrained in you is to have something told to you ever since you were a child, so what Em means is that he was always been told he wasnt going to amount to shit (ie: become something ) but he went against that and obviously became something, I'm sorry if i complicated this more my friend.

the second line refers to him making mainstream music and the fact that to this day he has to think about that i believe...

third line, he says sometimes you need people to tell you that you suck and you're a failure so you can become angry... keep plugging means keep trying... only outlet means his only way to express himself...
