Being stuck in the past can make u not appreciate

Do you ever feel that about Eminem? That even when he makes a good song, you can't appreciate it only because you're expecting it to be the exact same continuation of the past 3 albums? I know that's what I do. I like an album, I hate it, I go back and forth, but ultimately it's because of Eminems first 3 albums and 8 Mile, I always look back and keep wanting it to sound just like any of those. And I don't mean like how Relapse was similar in lyrics as the Slim Shady LP, but I'm talking about how I want things to be similar in every way possible. It's hard to explain, but if you think about what I'm saying, I don't think it's hard to understand. Don't be smart about it and say ''well his last song sounded just like that song on TES!''

You know what I mean, though. We can't enjoy any of Em's stuff to the fullest because every time he announces an LP we have so many expectations and we base them on our memories. That's just how it is. He didn't let us down with his first 3 albums. He just kept bringing it. Now we expect every album to be as good. We expect the Real Slim to come back. I'm a fan and I support what he does and want him to still rap, but there is always that last sliver of hope that Eminem will bring back his Slim Shady persona with a bang. And I'm not talking Relapse style, I'm talking a full blown Slim Shady album that puts everything else to shame. I'm going to keep hoping forever.

I was listening to Relapse today. I'm actually surprised how hard Em went in that album. Seriously, to go from Encore to Relapse? That was a good comeback album. How come people thought he went harder in Recovery?

For a short bit there I fantasized about Eminem making a solo album where he used his old voice for the entire album and his flow was like how it used to be. Would be pretty dope tbh however I still enjoy his new stuff

I still think he should. Do you think there's any chance that Eminem has been trying new styles because he doesn't want to tarnish his older style? Or do you think maybe it's that and he wants to give us fresh styles? Do you think there's a chance that he'll just say the hell with it, I'm really gonna go back for real and show them I'm still me? I mean everyone wants it. Shady's Back! That's what everyone wants on every new album, they want ''Shady Back, back again.'' I mean don't you think Em has thought about it at times? He can't keep getting away from it forever. Eventually he has to come home one last time. And I'm not talking about a revisit, I'm talking about a return.
