Do you remember the time you got into Em's music?

Postby Drax207 » Sep 3rd, '14, 17:58

You know, I may seem like a creepy stan but when I think about it, the time I didn't know Em and the one I got into his work are really two separated period of my life. For 15 years I didn't know shit about him, I used to listen to music a lot but I didn't have any favorite artist (well, maybe Daft Punk) and when I went to highschool, I Need a Doctor picked my interest (I know, weird start). I started to listen to Em's music a lot, wanting to listen to every song he was on or every verse he has ever laid. Plus he really got me into Rap. I used to dig it but he really made me appreciate it. He became my favorite music artist (and still is). It's like Em's music is part of my life now, I got some buddies into it too (and Yelawolf too :flutter: ), so it feels like it's with me wherever I go from now on.

And I listened to him for the first time when I was 15, was only 3 years ago.

So I was wondering, if you remember the exact moment, the exact song that got you into Em's music? I guess some of you guys listen to him since your childhood, when your were kids, you grew up with him, I can't imagine how great that must have been ! I wonder if you guys remember it :b:

Was high as fuck when I thought about this so it may seems like a weird thread, it's perfectly normal

EDIT: For the record, Em's far from being the only artist I like, I'm not that crazy yet :smoking:

It was 1999, I was 15 years old and my sister had a copy of his CD. A buddy of mine showed 97 Bonnie and Clyde to me, and I was hooked.

Yeah, I think it was when I was in 7th grade (2002/2003). I heard Without Me and Lose Yourself on the radio, and wanted to check out more of him.

It was Encore for me. Then my dad worked at a farmers market to help out his friend, and their son was a huge fan of Eminem, and I heard a bunch of his older stuff, havent looked back since.

I think it was around Encore? That was the first Em CD I bought. The first rap cd I bought was The Massacre

Singin' "Bagpipes from Baghdad" again
In my dad's drag draggin' a faggot in a Glad bag
Won't be the last time I make a dramatic entrance like that again
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
Forgive me father, for I have sinned
But hip hop has left me brainwashed with a violent streak

First song was "Guilty Conscience" but didn't really cared for it at that time, just really started getting into his music when "The Way I Am" came out :y:

Yeah, a mate brought the SSLP round telling me about this new white rapper, i gave it a listen and it didn't move me enough to get into him, i was well into other genres at the time. Hearing Stan And Kim made me an all out Stan and a fan of hiphop in general.

I actually have no idea. Around Relapse, but it wasn't Relapse that got me hooked. I was discovering everything song by song on YouTube rather than buying/DLing CD's. I know White America was one of those songs that really made me say ''this guy is fucking awesome''.
