okay, that's far. but it begs the question - if you find tech's stage presence terrible who do you consider to be great? i would love for you to show me a better performance than tech

I'm gonna be honest for a second and say I think 99% of rappers look like they fucking suck live, including Eminem.

Why do rappers walk around like crippled heroin addicts on stage?

i agree with this, but the thing with em is that at one point he was very fluid and natural on stage. he had passion and felt like he needed to be heard. but i don't get that feeling from any of his post-comeback performances.

I even look at the older ones and think, damn I wouldn't want to fucking go to that. His new ones even more so because the crowds look fucking dead. They might not be, but they sure seem like it.

If I'm going to a concert, there should be a cool stage show or at least some energy in the crowd. Watching someone walk around on stage performing a worse quality version of their music just isn't a good enough sell on its own.

The advantage I think guys like Tech, Run the Jewels, and similar acts have is they get to play in smaller venues like Night Clubs if they want to. Way more energetic atmosphere than you seem to be able to get out of huge crowds.

I've been (mainly for bands) to huge concerts and smaller venues. The smaller venues were always way more fun.

word ^

it's like there's someone on the side of the stage pointing a gun at him forcing him to do it. he feels like a hollow shell just reciting lyrics on beat most of the time. and his breath control is abysmal, this dude will skip entire bars at a time, it's sad and i mean that as honestly at possible. eminem was a huge idol to me growing up and it sucks to see him perform the way he has in the last 6 years or so. and what's equally as sad is how most of you people eat the shit up like it's a 10/10 performance. fuck outta here you can't even hear him over the god damn roots half the time

I honestly don't mind if rappers move around on stage and interact with the crowd, but at least have the audacity to not walk around like a duck. I'd prefer a rapper rapping decently stationary, as opposed to some guy running out of breath from moving around like he snorted 12 lines of painkillers.

It doesn't really matter how fit you are, the body has limits. Know your limits and stay below them so that you give the crowd your best work. When you feel energetic, then by all means flail your arms around like a dickhead.

Great performance, one of my fave moments from the MMLP2 era.
And, for the dude above who seems to have forgotten; people doubted that he could pull it off because his previous performance just days before, was marred with accusations of lip-synching, then he pulls off the wordiest, prolly most difficult to perform hit song ever flawlessly live the next day.
Pretty epic shit.
Also, I think his performances are brilliant, and The Monster Tour was breathtaking, you seem to be the only one who has a problem with it.

man come on i skipped through that shit and every single thing i landed on was cringe. eminem makes me so uncomfortable to watch live, and i don't understand how we're not in the same boat here.

@Elision, one thing I think is, for a lot of people seeing one of their idols live is enough even if the concert isn't the greatest. You're going to end up with a lot of really bias views regardless of the actual quality of the performance.

I don't watch a lot of concert footage, so I have no idea what his shows are like really recently, but I do know the bias view shit is going to be true either way.

It's like not being able to separate "holy shit I just saw Eminem live!" from "holy shit, Eminem puts on an objectively good and exciting stage show and raps all his songs perfectly!". There's nothing wrong with enjoying his concerts though. It's just not for me.

@Elision
I think CP pretty much hit the nail on the head.
I think live performances are more about the atmosphere and vibing along with thousands of people than actually viewing the performance with a critical eye.
I think it's the same for every live performer.
I didn't actually see Em live pre-hiatus though, so maybe that's why I can't relate to what you're saying, but I've seen you YouTube videos, and he seems to have traded fluidity for intensity and precision, I just don't mind it as much as you seem to.
Also lol, your sig wasn't a hit song, fam.
