Jay was dope as fuck.

He still makes some entertaining music, I still enjoy sitting through his albums.

lebron james is the most overrated basketball player ever

i have tried, and tried and tried, and still can't get into lebron. he comes off as this super smooth, magic johnson-esque point-forward type character, but he just sucks dick at playing basketball. like major major fucking dick, worse than current kobe i'd say. which is what makes me wonder how he's come this far and is such a timeless icon in basketball. his skill-to-praise ratio is simply unmatched. now, i understand, not all basketball is striving for getting buckets, but that's usually because it's focused on doing something else. Lebron does nothing. His game is pure filler and nothing more, he's never actually doing anything. he's the fucking lettuce in the burrito that is the NBA. he does nothing but look nice. somebody please explain to me how this guy has managed to remain relevant for so long

btw my top 10 is
J.R. Smith
Jordan Crawford
Marcus Thorton
Jarret Jack
Gary Neal
Monta Ellis
Brandon Jennings
Nate Robinson
Nick Young
Brandon Knight

Honestly, I sort of agree with the thread. He obviously isn't the most overrated rapper ever as there are rappers who are far less skilled than him and don't make anywhere near as good music get heaps of praise, but out of the top 5 everyone has (Jay z, nas, eminem, big, tupac) he's probably my least favorite. Also The Blueprint 1 is highly overrated, other than like renegade (and I think his verses are better than Eminem's before anyone calls me a stan, lol), basically how a lot of people view prime Wayne or Camron is kind of how I view Jay z. Although RD is pretty gud.

Scratch that Biggie's my least favorite and I find him almost overrated actually other than like LAD but that album isn't a classic. I never did love R2D ( Live and Let Die is my R2D) but do respect it.

I agree that he is overrated, disagree that he is objectively bad.

most of his music doesn't do much for me but his mic presence was untouchable at the time. biggie pioneered mcing. also he was an incredible freestyler, he could pull shit out of thin air in a way that would terrify the majority of today's battle mc's.

but jay-z.. i don't even know what he's notable for. what about hiphop does he excel in? his story-telling is mediocre, and average at best. his rhyming and bar structure is very simple, his array of flows can be counted on one hand and his actual spitting skills don't seem that sharp, like i doubt he's capable of chopping or anything that you would expect someone of his level to be capable of. what actually inspired me post this was listening to this morning show he did with tech back in the early 90's. tech throughout the whole thing keeps trying to get jay to spit with him but he keeps wiggling his way out of it, and then in the middle of tech spitting (where i linked) he just gets up and leaves so that he won't have to follow. how does this guy have any fans? not once has jay ever done anything on a mic that's impressed me, and I've given him ample opportunity to do so.

what are your thoughts on Big Pun and Big L Elison? lol, I lowkey always did kind of not like Jay z's voice (and yes I know he's not singing getoffmycase getoffmycase) and thought kanye outshined him throughout WTT.
