I don't think the sentiments he expressed in the article are unreasonable imo (btw, the author is not DJ Booth, but another staff writer). His criticism about Relapse being immature and aimed at kids is understandable. Songs like My Mom, Insane, etc. are casual in tone towards traumatic events. So his conclusion is that serious issues are being made into "fun" songs with a weird accent. Same with Recovery -- he didn't like the delivery. It's no more than what many here feel.

Where he goes wrong is in essentially calling for Em's retirement without listening to MMLP2. IMO, MMLP2 addresses many of the issues the writer has with Relapse and Recovery. It demonstrates skill/song-making ability which is in many cases on par with SSLP/MMLP/TES. There are many different delivery styles - lots of voice acting, changes in tone, etc. And the subject matter on MMLP2 is not silly or frivolous. The humour is of a kind we haven't seen before (So far...). So, lots to be excited about.

This article just proves that people don't like change. It's just the way we are wired. There is no way to recreate that moment when you first fall in love with something. The only thing you can do is to try and appreciate things in other ways.
