Because at the end of the day, it was still a solo Mike album. RTJ isn't just El as a producer like some groups.

Overall though, it's a pretty boring project. I feel like this was just rapping just to rap, I'm not one who demands a concept or theme for every song/album but good Lord, this was an extremely boring and repetitive project. It's good as background music, maybe even to party to for a few songs, but not something I can see myself listening to ever again.

I anticipate this being criminally praised more than it should be though, just because.

Yeah, I don't agree because I really like both, but if you were pretty neutral towards the first one (and Run the Jewels in general) I wouldn't expect you to be overly excited about this either. It sounds a lot different than the first, but it's still Run the Jewels.
