I went from MODERN day russian education to english and it was exactly 2 classes back, i even finished school at 16.

And soviet education was the dominant at its time, whith the discovery of internet etc... it would be even more effective in the 21st century.

The amount of books people were required to read and the usefull strictness in schools that kept our youth moral ... is legendary.

all countries' politics and history are important, world history and politics are important, no country is an island - my argument is that Danish kids receive a broad globally oriented education which is very valuable - without someone literally beating knowledge into them. i'm not saying soviet education isn't good, although i thoroughly disagree with the teaching methods used, i think a lot of russians (not all) are very well educated, but you can't just stereotype and say that all Westerners are poorly educated compared to russians when you don't know the education level in all Western countries

Ive done the SAT the GCSE The Russian Exams.. and i have relatives in america, Canada and some friends in england... whom i can compare to.
its not stereotyping its a fact. Instability between classes causes the education level to drop too... and the west has a big problem with that. but its even worse in modern russia now ....

Btw, nobody beat knowledge into people in the soviet union, there were just higher standarts, and a different morality, u wont understand it coz u never studied by our system. it doesnt work with capitalism though.

you have relatives in three Anglo-Saxon countries so you base your opinion on the entire Western education system on that, that's not fact, that's over-generalising and stereotyping, the education system isn't the same in all Western countries

i'm happy if you weren't beaten, i know other Russians and East-Germans who were - and yes, that's a very different morality which i really don't agree with. i was actually committing the same fault as you, stereotyping the entire russian education system based on what i know from my acquaintances - sorry about that if that isn't true

no, i made an example OF ME KNOWING, but i know for fact that the social class problems are resulting in educational problems too.

And actually i was "beaten", a few whips with a belt straightened my act out, i thank my parents for being strict. You're view on strictness is very skewed since u were brought up differently. One can force himself to fall into depression about something that really has no affect on them mentally by sorroundings. Its too complicated to just single out moral enforcement in family matters.

Russians are known for quite a lot of inventions, and rich in culture and statistically are holding #1 spot as the most reading counting in the world.
Even I, a person that wouldnt be considered a reader by a well educated russian have a bookshelf... its like a tradition, this tradition has been installed so to speak into us by an earlier generation of morally biased people. Despite any claims, soviet education was the most devoted.
