Nature VS Nurture

Fellow ladies and fella Master-Debaters, discuss serious topics.

^ i think that's an interesting topic.. i think we've discussed a similar issue, sumthin about the way rap music or violence in movies influences kids..

i really don't know, but seems to me like we cannot blame everything on enviroment. sure, it influences us in some way, but it's not like we don't have a choice. everyone has. and everyone has brain [yeah, God blessed some of us :8) ], which gives them a chance to consider what they do.

there are people who've been through shit, but they can still see the difference between good and bad things. living in ghetto or in a pathological family helps them in making decisions about their life - they see what happens and.. well that's a point which i don't understand. why do some of people try to finish with it and live a better life than their parents or friends and some of them just follow it?...

just like them guys in "Boyz N The Hood" - i know it's just a movie, but i'm sure it happens everywhere.. Try's father used to tell him how to be a man, a good man and it had a positive effect after all.. and there were the other 2 guys, Doughboy and Ricky.. they were brothers but completely different.. i don't get it at all..

but one thing is obvious to me - it cannot be just enviroment's influence..

I did an essay on cultural studies, related to this subject not so long ago.

The way i always saw it:

Serial killers kill coz they can get away with it, its like a race they just kill till they get caught. Begging for attention in a sense, nature has nothing to blame for it, its their idea, concieved from false judgement.

I have to agree with u on the growing up thing, its not all that matters, in most cases its just an excuse to them.

On side note: I think that murderers thrive in societies with authority most, which feeds my "get away with it" concept.

well, im not gonna say i know why, coz its prolly only the killers that know.

maybe power?...

Mental illness though seems like a perfect reason. But i believe mental illness isnt a social desease its genetical.

I read a few books that sugested that hatred and impulsive behaviour is cause from crossbreeding, the more races are mixed into (talking on gene level) the more unstable our neural senses are just like crossbred dogs can turn spontaniusly violent for no reason... nature does make mistakes sometimes.
Somewhat of your bro's view i guess...

The problem is either social(city's life cycle), or genetical (natures life cycle)... i still hold believe in social instability more.

but see, now i'm contradicting myself, because what if a person was truly raised on these morbid beliefs, then what? how is it possible to really see the line, if you're locked up in some house with your crazy mother preaching death to everyone or somethin? so in a way, i guess environment can be justified...?

if we talk about some extreme situations, then yeah, in some way.. if you grow up locked up in a house with your crazy parents and you don't know nuthin about the world outside.. you just don't know it. don't know how it works, what other people think, how they act.. you just don't see the line, because you've never seen the other side. but you know, that's a super-extreme situation lol..

talking about parents: they have great influence on us. i mean they're people who we know through our whole life.. they raise us, teach about world and so on and it means they can practically do whatever they want.. < that's sumthin i don't understand - some of us love them, some hate them. even if they're good parents, kids don't always do good things - you know what i mean, they just turn thugs, act gangsta and fuck up their whole life.
