Update on 50 Cent's Books

Rapper 50 Cent will launch his G-Unit Books imprint this Thursday (Jan. 4) at Borders-Columbus Circle at the Time Warner Building in New York.

Authors 50 Cent, Nikki Turner and K. Elliot will sign copies of the upcoming G-Unit Books release, Death Before Dishonor (Nikki Turner) Baby Brother , Hood (Noire) and Solider 7 and The Ski Mask Way (K. Elliot.)

The titles are the latest releases in a joint venture with MTV/Pocketbooks, that has already produced 50 Cent's best selling memoirs, From Pieces to Weight: Once Upon a Tome in Southside Queens, which was written with Kris Ex.

"Last year, my memoirs, From Pieces to Weight, marked the beginning," 50 Cent told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "Now, I'm rounding up some of the top writers, same way I rounded up some of the top rappers in the game, to form G-Unit and take this series to the top of the literary world. The stories in the G-Unit series are the kinds of dramas me and my crew have been dealing with our whole lives: death, deceit, double-crosses, ultimate loyalty, and total betrayal. It's about our life on the streets and no one knows it better than us. Not to mention, when it comes to delivering authentic gritty urban stories of the high and low life, our audience expects the best."

The event will serve as the official launch of G-Unit Books, a joint venture with MTV Books/Pocketbooks that will publish Hip-Hop novellas.

50 Cent will greet fans in an "intimate setting," but strict rules are being enforced.

No photographs will be allowed and no memorabilia, CD's, books, or periodicals will be autographed.

The rapper will only sign G-Unit Books release titles.

Starting on Thursday at 9:00 am, customers who have purchased copies of any G-Unit Books titles will be given wristbands on a first come, first serve basis, but the wristbands do not guarantee entrance to meet 50 Cent or the other authors.

There is a limit of up to five autographed copies of any G-Unit Books per wristband.

In addition to 50 Cent's worldwide celebrity, the writers have strong followings as well.

Turner penned the best selling books Hustler's Wife and The Glamorous Life , Noire penned the popular title G-Spot and K. Elliot published the book Street Fame.

"You know, I don't do anything halfway, and we're going to take this street lit thing to a whole other level," 50 Cent promised.
