Eminem made a donation of an undisclosed amount today to Hip Hop 4 Habitat - a project where members of the hip hop community will build a home for a needy family.
The rapper contributed the money through his Marshall Mathers Foundation. The news was announce on WJLB-FM(97.9) this morning at 7.
Hip Hop 4 Habitat is looking to raise $75,000 in order to build a 1,100 square-foot home by Mack Ave. and Lakepointe St. on the East side of Detroit. The plan is to build the house in a one-week period in October.
Rapper Trick Trick, whose song Welcome to Detroit City featured Eminem, will be helping to build the home and will also give a concert for volunteers for the project.
"Hip Hop 4 Habitat is meant to be a positive project and a way for the hip-hop community to come together and support a family in need," said Alyce Hartman, according to detnews.com.
Hartman, founder of A Prophetic Generation (a non-profit organization involved with the project), had kind words for the rappers. "We're so thankful Trick and Eminem are leading this effort."
