I hate to bring this to u, but music fans listened to hip hop before people knew who eminem was, the only reason he gets more mentions and "omz its a first white rapper" its because he got into mainstream, right in the high spot.

yeah, but I didn't say Eminem is the only rapper that non-rap fans loved, did I? I mean, Tupac had a huge impact on many non-hip hop fans, I know a lot of people who liked Tupac and don't like hip hop in general... and I think Tupac is considered important by the music industry etc... it wasn't my point... I was just saying that Eminem had all the ingredients to appeal to music fans in general (not talking about pop fans here, I mean serious music fans) and there are other rappers who are maybe more talented/better rappers than Eminem, but they didn''t have that special something... cause not anybody can have that... I'm sure Eminem himself didn't know he had that...

you don't see every day, an artist that can appeal to the pop crowd, while being appreciated by real music fans and especially by real fans of the type of music he's doing... that's why he was so big at that time...

you know what asp, the fact that he's white makes a huge difference, just like when we get our first black president everyone's gonna be "omg it's the first black president" it's the fact that he was able to get thru all the crisicm which he recieved to be able to come the first white rapper. i still dont understand how you can say he didn't make an impact he made an impact maybe not specifically to the hip hop community but the world overall.. and it was negative..

You just said he made a huge impact to the world, and it was negative. That's some bullshit.

Ohh big woopty doo first white rapper on mtv.. A white rapper introduced nas into the game, white rappers been rhyming since the day hip hop was invented. ANd the fuck is the difference between a white and a black president? Racial pride? ... And critisism lol.. too much 8-mile.

And you don't have to understand what im saying, someday you're gonna be thinking the same shit later on.

and it's always the same people, why idk, i agree with a lot of asp's points but he still thinks that eminem did not make a positive impact

And what impact is that.. wat is good about eminem being on the spotlight? now seriously, tell me how the fuck did the music benefit from it?

Go watch watch 8-mile.

listen eminem wasn't the frist white rapper hes just the best white rapper that really made it big. Eminem gets alot of pop fans because of his singles The real slim shady, with out me, just lose it and so on he gets real hiphop and music fans with his more lyrical stuff. Eminem did impact hiphop he help some white rappers get some respect like paul wall( even though hes not that good)

Huh? ...

music was not affected by u liking it, as far as music is concerned u started listning to music coz of a pop-sensation.

Tupac made imapct by controvercy and death more than actual music, even though he did make the same kind of impact with music.

There are rappers that dont make this "impact" because they refuse to sell out like eminem or the likes of him... "music fans" only hear the artist that makes it big, how do u know other artists dont make similar impact if they had that spot? Since wen is MTV deciding who makes impact.

you don't see every day, an artist that can appeal to the pop crowd, while being appreciated by real music fans and especially by real fans of the type of music he's doing... that's why he was so big at that time...

who gives a flying fuck about the pop-crowd, we dont need them in hip hop, that pop-crowd killed hip hop ... look at it now, Eminem was easy to make pop, plus he was white, which gives him credit for prejeduce daddies of america letting their children buy his cd,... music fans should know other good rappers then, but they dont thats the fact... they only the two rappers that sold most records.

amazing impact.

Asp, you're just being an asshole. You wouldn't be on this forum if he didn't make an impact (come to think about it, maybe it was a negative one).

We all know there were other white rappers, but they were secretly being laughed at as black wannabees and never looked at as real legit contenders to be great. We all know there are many great black rappers too. so stop trying to prove you know more than us. I listen to loads of hip-hop, only the best lyrically sick shit. And Eminem is right up there with the very best. Don't play the Eminem-lover card, the naive groupie card, or the ye'll realise it someday card. From what Eminem has done so far in his career, he deserves to be right fuckin up there with the best. I can forgive one bad album, because of the 3 brilliant albums he made. And in those 3 albums is enough proof that he will make another great one. So leave the em bashing until the next album flops. And if it doesn't assume the position.

asp, the reason i think you don't respect him is because he went for fame and for money... you might think that ruined him, but why? just cause he was sick and tired of being broke? you dont know how broke he was at the time maybe he was striving to live, you might say i'd ever do it for fame and for money, but you're broke as fuck then yea do it and i'll bet everything on that..

Im on this forum coz eminem made good music. Not because he is god among men.
We all know there were other white rappers, but they were secretly being laughed at as black wannabees and never looked at as real legit contenders to be great

And they arent laughed at now? Hip hop fans see this selling out eminem as being one big joke.

Im not discussing "to like eminems music or not" Im discussing the exageration you people throw upon eminem.
From what Eminem has done so far in his career, he deserves to be right fuckin up there with the best.

Dont change the fucking subject. Im not debating weather eminem is a good artist or not.

I can forgive one bad album, because of the 3 brilliant albums he made. And in those 3 albums is enough proof that he will make another great one. So leave the em bashing until the next album flops. And if it doesn't assume the position.

uhuh, ok. typical response from a biased eminem fan. Changing the subject to that he had 3 good albums. "perfect" and flawless ..etc....etc.

who said i dont respect eminem? you assume what i think.

I dont know how broke he was? I grew up in a single bedroom appartment with nothing to eat watching my mother die from cancer because she had no money to treat it. Appreciating what you get later on in life is not selling out. If eminem was a real monumental musician the likes of John lennon, he would sacrifice sales to a cause, he doesnt.

And thats the only thing im arguing about, dont post that groupie attack shit for me.. going offtopic.

Eminem is the rosa parks of hip hop, he did something insignificant and got praised for it, while there were people dying and fighting for the cause in the background.
