A ledgend is some who can stand the test of time, will eminems music still sound fresh in 10,20,30,40 years? A ledgend is someone who is consistently pushing out good strong music over a long period of time. A ledgend is someone who adapts their style but still maintains high standards. A ledgend is someone whos music lays the foundation for new, current and future artists in that chosen genre or music in genral.

Now ask yourself is eminem a ledgend? or is the majority of his success the fact he was a successful white man in a black man's musical culture?

eminem reminds me of elvis presley ALOT when you consider the fact they both infused white and black culture from around them and marketed it for the commercial audience.

Think about it.

so real, we wont know if he was a legend for a generation or 2, he might be considered one, he might not... it all depends on what happens here after.

Now ask yourself very carefully, is ELvis a legend, the answer is undoubtedly YES!

You asked and answered your own question, irony. :D

Hmmm, interesting. By your emoticon, it might suggest that you intended to show that Eminem might be a Legend, would this be the case? :shifty:

@Asp, fuck politics anyway man, what's that got to do with the music. You think I give a fuck about Bono and his charitable ego-trip, and he's Irish, the fuckin wanker.
Why do you always have to resort to saying I or people listen to too much Eminem, when you know that's not true. I listen to almost every other rapper more than Eminem right now, that doesn't mean I can't hold his music in high acclaim.

I too love the other rappers you claim to be real hip-hop, like Rakim or Nas. They are great at what they do, but they are not as exciting as Eminem. Even now, when all seems to be crumbling to the earth, we still don't know what to expect next. It's always more exciting when a new Eminem album gets released as opposed to other rappers predictable releases.

i agree with that statement man :worship:

elvis has undergone the "test of time" , eminem hasnt, this isnt even a debate to say eminem is a legend or not but the fact that most legends inluence and impact the music genre in such a way is why they become a legend, so lets debate the legend points

A ledgend is some who can stand the test of time, will eminems music still sound fresh in 10,20,30,40 years?

imposible to answer :p

A ledgend is someone who is consistently pushing out good strong music over a long period of time.

this is what is at question now, hes dropped BIG time, and the esxcuses are just bullshit that people who dont want to think that eminem can fail use.

A ledgend is someone who adapts their style but still maintains high standards.

smack that, rain man, ass like that, just lose it, pistol poppin...answer..no

A ledgend is someone whos music lays the foundation for new, current and future artists in that chosen genre or music in genral.

emine layed a foundation, built on it, then destroyed it and got blinded by the blinky doller signs, he is now destroying the foundation of his music and of hip hop by being the onyl artists who is positive to go platinum so he gives them millions of ears shitty music so everytime he releases weak shitty club bangers..or just shit music, he destroy the foundation he layed back in the early era

hes basically killing himself

Even if Eminem has tarnished his record with his last few releases. It's nothing compared to some of the shit other legends have done.

John Lennon went crazy about a girl called Yoko Ono, fucked up The Beatles, and almost made every one of his fans want to crucify him.

Bob Dylan, created an uproar when he decided to move from acoustic guitar to Electric (for some reason this was sacrilige), and his fans thought he sold out.

Eminem has one mediocre (buy his standards) album, a few shitty collaborations, and a few distasteful (in a bad way) song concepts and talent signings.

You gotta realise we are stuck in time, and the length of time between Encore and now, seems like an eternity of shit Eminem music. When really it's just one half-arsed album, and a few lacklustre featurings. This 3 year period will seem non-existen in the bigger picture. Eminem will be remembered for his greater works, his first 3 major albums. And hopefully his future great ones, which we'll have to wait and see about.

His impact on me was prety big, and I`m willing to go out on a limb, and say he affected a lot of other people too. Time will tell........YOU what I already know. ;)

Tash i cant help but feel you are contradicting yourself. half your posts say "i think Eminem has amazing lyrics", "i think eminem has amazing complexity", "Encore had some good songs", "he may be slipping a bit but he's still amazing", etc... then the other half are "eminem is shit", "eminem has turned to shit", "eminem should die for making that song", "Encore was fuckin shit."

just observation :sweating:
