Eminem subliminally disses new rap in "Touchdown"

Postby katastrophe » Jul 13th, '07, 02:48

ok, this is all opinion but if u really think about it, it seriously makes a lot of sense. i did this on AIM with steve if u cant already figure that out, lol. think of the "car" that he references to as new rap and "kids" as the rappers

first heres the explanation of the beginning of the verse:

"Welcome to the Midwest, yes
Where the Detroit players, ball like you have no idea
The boy is here"......welcome to the midwest where the detroit people do rap right

"Got the whole place lookin' like it's candy painted, ain't it
Like we left the kids at home and just let 'em loose with the crayons"....basically hes saying that the whole place is candy painted(like all rappers say now) and it looks like they left the "kids" to do whatever they want and make their own music(crayons can be a metaphore for music)

"F**k, I just hit a jogger, People lookin like frogger
They hoppin out the way whenever they see Marshalls car comin
The kids painted my windows with black permanent marker
And left the rest of the car color cover like swirl pops"..........he hit a rapper, the listeners look like frogger(jumping and acting stupid the way they 'lean wit it rock wit it' or the other dances) they hop(frog metaphore) when Marshall comes. the "kids" color windows with black and left the car lookin like swirl pops(referring to how they describe their cars)

LMat369: And I got the bass thumpin' but I'm bound to bump into something
Kids are flyin' through the air lookin like they're crumpin', the way they're tumblin'
I gotta do something
stevethetruth: uh huh
LMat369: so hes listening to music with the bass and the "kids"(the rappers now) are doing whatever they want
LMat369: eminem is bound to bump into something(meaning beef with them) and he "gotta do something"
stevethetruth: :o
stevethetruth: holy shit
LMat369: yeah
LMat369: But soon as I hit the carwash, to get the tar off
Then it’s right back at it tomorrow
LMat369: he goes to "wash the car"(get rap back) but as soon as he does it they are back at it tomorrow(make crappy rhymes again)
stevethetruth: damn dude
LMat369: They're like dad, this is in, so get with the trend
This is for the pimps, listenin' to MIMS, nail polish on the rims
LMat369: they're saying that this is whats cool now and he has to get with it meaning that the rhymes today are for the pimps, they listen to people like mims, and they have nail polish on the rims
stevethetruth: lol
stevethetruth: good researching for real
LMat369: And now it's custom chrome, but I gotta go do a show
So go on with your bad self, just have it back to normal when I touchdown
LMat369: now its the custom thing and he wants back to normal when he does a show
stevethetruth: dude it actually all makes sense
stevethetruth: i agree with you now

also with the voice he could be making fun of them and the way they talk

hope u know what im talkin about. please post comments and your thoughts

in pistol poppin he outright disses the south with "maybe i just feel like theres too many pussies in rap" and most of the entire verse so it would be stupid for him to go back and change his style to the new rap on this song

i know some of u might call me a groupie or w/e u want but i assure u that i am not. i was just bored and it was an idea that makes a lot of sense.

like i said on aim, maybe he meant this as one big metaphore for all those people who are really into the lyrics and at the same time he completely made it a different story for those who are about the r&b type of music, maybe he tried pleasing both audiences..

great job on the research this does make sense if you open your mind.

*i'll bet anyone this will turn into another feud with asp on how eminem blows*

HOLY CRAP!!! :o THAT'S CRAZY!!! Makes me look at the song differently now!
Not knowing how life will continue on..
The myth of my faith, it is still being drawn.
Seeing how everyone stayed with me, up until now..
I might as well end it and take my vows.

it makes sense and i can tell u really looked into this but idk...he would of had to put ALOT of thought in every line. but i dont think he'd diss music like the south while bein on a track with a southern rapper. also if ur right and hes really mad about how wack rap is today then why complain about it and make the track bad? why not actually make lyrical shit to prove his point instead of pretty much using the same style and flow of the south? i think u really got something goin there but each line is so complex u'd have to look into everything (like u did) and i think em would know over half the litseners would never catch on to that so there for it'd be pointless. :n:

exactly
HALF the listeners wouldn't catch on meaning those half would be rnb fans right and the real rap artists would catch on to this, so he's basically pleasing both audiences

but yea like mart said there's a lot of doubt.. but everything fits so well...
