Obviously Nas said it first, Eminem's was an homage to NAs. Just like EMinems version of Rakim's immortal lines from Paid In Full's "MY Melody" in The Marshall Mathers L.P's "I'm Back".

It's a tribute to the original artist called an homage when you pay tribute to something that was so famously great for them.

There's a lot of envy towards Eminem, and he's undeservedly looked down on a lot in the hip-hop community, so people are slower to pay tribute to his songs. But he has made a few things very popular amongst rappers. The word "Stan" is heavily used by a lot of rappers now to put down another rapper, it may even become an actual word in the dictionary for an obsessed fan, much like groupie, it's used that often.

Well, a Stan is a fan who would kill someone or themselves just to mimic their favourite artist. A groupie is a bitch backstage sucking dick because she likes a persons song. I've no problems with these words when they're used appropriately, using them on this forum is stupid and irrelevant.
