You could disarm someone attacking you with a knife. And how would you shoot him if he had a knife anyways? Would he present the knife and then challenge you to a duel? If someone wants to do you harm, they will. And think... how many people get shot because of self defense? The majority of gun violence is not defense related. So if someone is attacking you and lets you draw your weapon and you're able to shoot them then they deserve whatever they get. But most people who carry a gun on them do it because they think it makes them feel like they're tough and that's completely ridiculous. I want to see people feel tough without weapons. And btw if it's about all this getting stabbed shit then why couldn't someone just carry a knife and then you would be packing just as much firepower as your potential attackers.

damn it wats the difference... and i never said i was gonna carry a gun, i said that if someone came into my house and i had a gun then i wud get it and shoot him if he did not surrender or stop. Common wudnt it be easier to shoot someone with a bullet instead of slicin his guts all over the floor with a knife? If everyone had a gun, the only way to rob you would be to kill you. Your chances go from just having a gun pointed at you, to being murdered. And u think someone breaking into your house gonna try give u time whip out your pistol in the middle of the night? If u do actually have the time to whip out ur pistol, means ur living a scared life with a gun under your pillow.

U just don't win anything from having a gun.

P.S. You really think you could in a dangerous circumstance and aim/shoot and better yet hit the target being the knee? have u ever even shot a gun? Its not as easy as movies make it out to be.

Wat i am sayin isnt strange, even in the alien movies, when the town has been alert of E.T. they run out to the hills with their SHOTGUNS NOT KNIVES to kill the alians cuz they know they wud hav a better chance to win if they shot them instead of comin up close and stabbin them. Pullin a trigger is a lot more easier and and cleaner than rammin a blade into someones guts and stabbin him ten times.

Yes if u get a knife, u can put it down if a gun is pulled on you. The robber feels less threatened and is less likely to try shoot u before you shoot.

The point about the knife thing is that you don't need a gun to protect yourself, not which one kills better. If it comes to killing, the fact that both you and the robber have the gun, puts you more at risk.

The thread isn't about keeping a gun in your house, though. It's "pistol packin." Having a gun on you on the streets. That's what the debate is about.

actually you never mentioned this being about having a gun in your home for protection. and the thread is called "Pistol Packin" not "Do you think it's ok to have a gun in your house?" So get back on topic

The thread isn't about keeping a gun in your house, though. It's "pistol packin." Having a gun on you on the streets. That's what the debate is about.

oh yeah thats right ....but the two r very similar tho so if ur discussin one then y not discuss the other. And in general i was hopin for the topic to be about usin and keepin guns to defend urself not only takin them out to the streets.

Aight then wat do u want me to do huh. Change the name of the topic? when i said pistol packin i just like meant bein in possetion of a gun and usin it. Whether its at home or anythin, but i can see though wat u mean when u said i went off though. Pistol Packin is usually refered to when someone goes out holdin a gun so i guess u guys r right, but still aint it worth to discuss. they both r very similar u know.

Not really. I see a big, big difference in keeping a gun in the home to protect you from a burglar, and carrying a gun onto the streets to be hard.

I'm pretty sure I get what you're saying, but I still disagree. Most people are not honest and having a crap load of people with guns on the streets wouldn't do anything but increase the murder rate in the country for absolutely no reason.
