Question

Postby i4got » Aug 5th, '07, 16:50

I was watchin eminem album's booklets and under every song's title there is written this "written by:M. mathers and..." there is always another name next to his own, like A. young, L. resto, J, bass or M. bass. so my question is does eminem write his lyrics alone? or maybe he is help by these other people?

In some interviews, I read that the engineers and producers help the artist create the theme of the song, or creates the hook. In "American Psycho 2", Bizarre actually wrote the hook and sent it to B-Real and he performed the hook with his vocals.

A. Young - Dr. Dre: I guess you know him, he's doin' his thang with the beatz, but when he featured on a track he writes his own lyrics as I know (most of times you see Mike Elzondo, or Mark Batson's names they are makin live instruments on Dre's beatz)

L. Resto - Luis Resto: He's Em's additional producer, and guitar/key player, he brings the melodies from Em's head to the record. :D (as he said)

J. Bass, M. Bass - Jeff Bass & Marky Bass aka The Bass Brothers: They produced a some tracks on MMLP, and Jeff made beats together with Marshall to TES!

So Em writes his own lyrics, this people are musicians.

Thanks for attention class, see you tomorrow. :D
There will be my signature. It'll be a hot one. You'll look at it and say - wow that's a gangsta signature.

Lol, yeah Vermin's right.

Eminem is a proper emcee, he wouldn't accept lyrics from somebody else. When credits are put on a booklet for a cd, it credits who ever created the song, you will always notice M. Mathers comes first, because he writes the lyrics and usually has the largest percentage of the input to the song. Then the producer and musician credits will follow after that. It's always interesting reading the credits though, I like finding out who helped make them, and also where the samples and interpolations came from.

I know that they are producers, but in the booklet of the Slim Shady LP it was written this "written by M. Mathers + A. Young" or "M. Mathers + Jeff Bass" so I thought they talked about the writers of the lyrics and not the production of the songs.
anyway thanx for makin it clear.

Dre is an executive producer for Em, so he is credited as writing some of his lyrics because, Dre can Tell eminem to change some stuff in what he writes for the sake of consistency in how "he sees" the record should be.

McMaybe wrote:On sslp the song my fault was written by eminem, but he did not come up with the idea, or the chorus. That was another guy (forgot his name) that was with him in the studio.

I'm sure this was a real-life scenario that he got from one of his friends.
