get real
Eminem can BE considered bigger than Biggie Smalls, but never can b bigger than 2Pac.
Lol, that was a kinda rash thing for me to say, but realistically speaking it's not wrong. Pac is a huge icon, loved and adored by masses of hip-hop fans, and rightfully so. He had a huge impact in rap while alive, and after death even more so. But, he is put up on too high a pedestal. Any hip-hop fan worth their salt, and with a relatively average knowledge of hip-hop emcees would say that Tupac is not the greatest rapper ever. His body of work for me is mind blowing, he has to be the most prolific emcee ever. He was a good lyricist but not in the same league as people like Nas or Rakim. Anybody with a shred of honesty would admit that he acheived most of his notoriety and fame, for the east-west coast beefs and his subsequent death, which kinda made a martyr out of him.
Eminem, has won more awards, sold more albums and is arguably as worshipped by white people as Pac is by black people. If he got shot even now (NEvermind after The Eminem Show) it would be a massive loss to hip-hop and music fans all over the world. But, i`m sick of this dying shit being recognised as a reason for someone to be idolised. But, it has always been the way, not just in hip-hop, it happens in all kinds of music, in art, movies, sports, etc. When you die, people stop taking you for granted and at last give you the respect you deserved when you were alive. It's only when they're gone that we browse over their portfolio and think, fuck sake, that was amazing, I`ll miss not hearing or seeing that again. That's why I don't like bullshit being said about my favourite rappers or musicians, because they have done stuff that has been amazing for us to hear or see. They might put out a few slightly weaker tracks here and there but that is the same in everything, you gotta take the good with the bad.
